Prince Charles has to learn to shut up, according to a very opinionated editorial from the Times UK. There have been reports about Charles taking on more responsibility as Queen Elizabeth slowly scales back on her end. The Queen’s health has been steadily deteriorating over the past couple of years, and she’s almost 90 – which means it’s time to start grooming Charles to take over. Although everyone has been hoping that tradition somehow goes out the window and Prince William inherits the throne after Elizabeth, it really does look like Charles will become England’s next king.
Charles has always been seen as an ass since he began cheating on Princess Diana with Camilla Parker-Bowles – the fact that he remains the heir apparent is ridiculous and provides an example of why we are grateful that representative democracy has replaced monarchy in the West. Charles is a bit of a fool and his inappropriate remarks and behavior, should they continue once he is King, will not help the family business. If he is to become the central figure associated with the oldest monarchy of our time, he needs to learn to be more discreet about what he says and what he does.
As the Times editorial states, “The Prince of Wales can no more walk silently past a set of plans drawn up by a modernist architect than a labrador can walk past a lamppost without stopping to cock his leg….”
Simply put, he needs to show that he merits wearing the crown before he can take over from Queen Elizabeth – or at the very least, he needs to prove that he won’t destroy the monarchy with his idiocy and half-witted behavior.
