Golden Globe nominated actress and notorious Hollywood good girl, Reese Witherspoon has taken a complete turn in her much publicized “goody two-shoes” image. The actress was arrested on Friday with her husband Jim Toth when she decided to pull the celebrity card. The once modest girl had no problem coming out of that “goody two-shoes” shell that she displays for her fans; when the officer pulled the couple over for weaving in and out of lanes, he specifically told Witherspoon to stay in the car not once, but twice and she defied him. Here is what TMZ reported, “As officers dealt with Jim, Reese allegedly started acting up, telling cops, “Do you know my name?” The officer answered by saying, “No, I don’t need to know your name.” Witherspoon then came back with, “You’re about to find out who I am … You are going to be on national news.”
What surprises me most about this whole mess is that Witherspoon has openly said that she is committed to her charity work for AVON, “As a woman and a mother I care deeply about the well being of other women and children throughout the world and through the years, I have always looked for opportunities to make a difference.” Really?? Does getting behind the wheel of a car with your husband, the two of you intoxicated, defying a policeman’s order help the well being of women and children? Was all that “charitable” work for publicity to help her career? Charity work aside, what does this type of behaviour say for Witherspoon as a mother and a role model for other women?
I am so shocked that this once southern girl has turned into a rude and uncaring bitch. I can see a lot of people that will blame Witherspoon’s husband for being the one driving intoxicated, but she is just as much to blame for getting in the car with him and she alone was rude to the officer, not her husband. Plus, you can be sure she was drunk as well or else she would’ve taken the wheel.
Well, there is one light at the end of this otherwise dreary tunnel for Witherspoon. There are more scripts in Hollywood for bad girls than good, this just might work in her favor after all… for her career anyway.
