The film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey is the most anticipated upcoming film and it seems to be on the lips of anyone who is anyone in Tinseltown. While fans have assumed that an actor like Ian Somerhalder will ultimately win the coveted role of Christian Grey, there has also been some talk of producers actually preferring to cast an actor that flies below the radar a bit. I think they love the idea of taking a random guy and turning him almost overnight into the next Robert Pattison.
One such actor that took to his Facebook page to discuss Fifty is Stephen Amell, a Canadian actor currently best known for his role in Arrow. He told his fans,
“I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it.”
Even admitting to having a meeting indicates that he is at least on the table as a possibility for the role. We already do know that according to the studio producing the film, Fifty will likely hit theaters in the summer of 2014, so it’s a little ways off but they will need to get it together pretty soon. Both filming and post-production will take some time so we’ll have to be hearing some solid casting news sooner rather than later.
As far as the role of Christian Grey is concerned, would you rather see Ian step in and get the job done or would you prefer that a new actor step up and completely win you over as the BDSM addicted Mr. Grey? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
