This week on The Real Housewives of New Jersey we see that the women still have hard feelings over the events of last year and the season four reunion. The show starts with Teresa Giudice working out with her trainer, Linda. They discuss Gia’s 12th birthday party and that Teresa invited her brother, Joe Gorga and his family.
Next we are at Jacqueline and Chris Laurita’s house. Joe and Chris are installing a hyperbaric chamber for Chris and Jacqueline’s autistic son, Nicholas, to sleep in. Jacqueline says there is research suggesting sleeping in the hyperbaric chamber could help her son deal with his autism. Jacqueline came back for season five of RHNJ so she could raise awareness of autism. Previously Jacqueline considered quitting the show because she didn’t want to deal with all the drama any more. It was also reported that Jacqueline came back for the money. She and Chris come across as being affluent but the truth is they have financial problems. Stories of their money problems started surfacing last year. TMZ ran a story saying Jacqueline missed a $10,000 mortgage payment and the bank was ready to foreclose on her mansion. She got the money together and she is no longer in danger of losing her house. She must have just cached a Bravo check.
Teresa’s husband Joe Giudice takes their oldest daughter Gia Giudice for gelato. Milania Giudice’s name comes up and Gia expresses her displeasure with her sister. When Joe inquires about the problem Gia says Melonia insulted her body. Miliania told Gia she has a hairy grill. Joe has no idea what Gia is talking about and Gia is too red faced to talk about it. She just wants her gelato!! Joe starts a conversation with Gia about boys and for her to not start smoking. Joe is talking to Gia at Teresa’s request since she was going to be 12 years old. Also, her birthday party would be Gia’s first co-ed party.
We are back at the Laurita house. Caroline Manzo then tells Jacqueline she spoke to Teresa. Jacqueline’s eyes got big in disbelief. Caroline says Teresa feels Jacqueline owes her an apology. Caroline did not need to bring this up. She knows Jacqueline hates Teresa and has no intention of mending their friendship. Jacqueline responds by laughing out loud and saying Teresa owes her an apology. I think Caroline wants to feel self important. She goes on to describe the conversation with Teresa in detail to everyone. Caroline says she only got through a little to Teresa regarding Joe. In her talking head Jacqueline says Teresa invites them to interfere in her problems but then gets mad when they try to help. Jacqueline herself is confused. There were many times she put herself in the middle of huge fights between Teresa and her family. Also, last week we saw Caroline offer to talk to Teresa on Joe’s behalf.
Kathy Wakile’s sister Rosie takes Kathy’s son Joseph for a joy ride in his dad’s care. Joseph is starting to learn to drive so of course this is a bright idea. Kathy and her husband Rich Wakile come home to find the car gone. They were furious and told off Rosie when she and Joseph returned the car. There isn’t much more to say about this scene. The Wakiles are boring and annoying. I dread seeing them on TV each week because they bring nothing to the table. They just keep reminding Teresa about respect and how wrong she is all the time. I was hoping they would quit the show. I guess they need the money too much to quit. Plus, Kathy probably needs the free publicity for her cannoli kits and her desserts. It’s funny how Kathy had no interest in being more than a mom until last season. She specifically said she wasn’t ready to not be there for her kids every day all day. I think Kathy finally admitted to herself she was jealous of her cousin Teresa’s empire and decided she wanted one, too. And how convenient she came to this conclusion after being on the show for a year? If she was not a RHNJ Kathy would not want to be more than a wife and mother. She chose now to start her business because of the exposure she would get. Melissa did the same thing with her music. Melissa said she always wanted a singing career and didn’t even start to pursue it until she joined RHNJ.
Teresa and her husband Joe Giudice discuss her dad being hospitalized again with pneumonia as they are driving to the hospital. Teresa gets a call from her mom saying her brother took her dad to the hospital the night before at 4am. He is now in the ICU. He went in overnight the night before. Teresa and Joe are going to see him the next day.
Next we see Joe and Melissa Gorga in their house. Joe is complaining he isn’t well. Melissa says she is going to take their kids to Gia’s birthday party herself but she would rather Joe came along. Melissa tells her husband if he is sick he should not go to the hospital to see his dad. She will take Antonia to see her nono.
We see Melissa in the gym taking a class. Kathy arrives late for the class and struggles with the basic moves. Afterwards, Melissa and Kathy are sitting at the smoothie bar and in walks Jacqueline. She flaked on taking the class. Melissa notices Teresa’s trainer Linda working out looking right at them. Jacqueline says Linda is one of Teresa’s soldiers, and she can spot one. Melissa says Linda will probably call Teresa.
Well, Teresa and Kim D are having coffee and what do you think happens? Teresa gets a call from Linda! She tells Teresa and Kim Jacqueline and Kathy are fat and haven’t worked out in a long time. All the ladies are puzzled why Kathy, Jacqueline and Melissa are there working out when Teresa works out there. Linda is a loyal TreHugger like Kim. She was brought on the show this season to be support for Teresa. Linda was on the show one time last season. She went to an event with Teresa for Kathy’s dessert tasting. Linda was not impressed with Kathy and her food.
Caroline and her son Christopher Manzo drive up to her house and find Caroline’s sister Fran feeding a pig. She is pig sitting. Caroline is letting Fran stay in her house for a while. With Fran comes all kinds of animals. Caroline says she is glad her and her husband have their apartment in Hoboken to get away from the mess animals make.
The next scene is super cute! Teresa takes all four of her girls Gia, Gabriella, Milania and Audriana to the salon to have their hair done for Gia’s birthday party. All the girls are enjoying themselves but Milania is having the most fun. Teresa says to her “Milania you look like a diva!” Melania responds “you know I like to be a diva. Come on!” Teresa can’t help herself and starts laughing. Gia rolls her eyes. She thinks her little sister is embarrassing her. Gia has a lot of problems with Milania lately.
Melissa is getting her kids ready to go to Gia’s party. She sprays little Gino’s hair into a mohawk. As she is getting her ready to leave the house she speaks with Joe about the party. Joe says if anyone gives her a hard time she should spit in their face. Real classy, Joe! You talk about being better than your sister and then you encourage your wife to do something disgusting.
The party has begun! There is lots of dancing and loud music. Teresa’s girls are dressed to the nines as is Teresa.
Rich and Kathy discuss her going to the hospital to visit her uncle. Kathy is talking about regretting calling Teresa’s dad a coward at the season 4 reunion. She worries about running into Teresa. Rich tells her to go see him anyway. He doesn’t want Kathy to regret not seeing her uncle if he unexpectedly passes away.
We now come to the first fight of the season!! Everyone arrives at Gia’s party. The adults go into the adult room to talk away from the kids. Melissa is talking with Kim about her husband being sick and that he was also admitted into the hospital with pneumonia. Teresa overhears Melissa tell Kim she went to see her father in law. Teresa then confronts Melissa about when she actually did visit her Teresa’s dad. Melissa flip flops on the dates after she is caught in a lie. Teresa is right. She was at the hospital the day after her dad was admitted and didn’t see Melissa. The JLO wanna be with a five finger forehead kept arguing she was right and Teresa was wrong. Melissa really looked foolish defending herself. In her talking head Melissa says she didn’t go to the hospital right away because she had a sore throat. The episode ends with Melissa and her children leaving the party. Melissa had to leave because she was embarrassed, not because she was fought with Teresa and wanted to get away from her.
