The Walking Dead RECAP 11/3/13: Season 4 Episode 4 “Indifference”

Tonight on AMC THE WALKING DEAD continues with all its gory goodness. Tonight’s episode is called, “Indifference” and on tonight’s show the the supply mission faces hurdles; the situation at the prison worsens. If you happened to miss the last episode, don’t worry. On last week’s show the members of the group were becoming infected by the flu. It was a fast acting flu that moved fast. Glenn started feeling sick and they all knew they needed antibiotics – they agree to go on a mission to find them. While Daryl, Michonne, Bob – and Tyreese went on the mission, Rick, Carol, and Maggie tried to keep things under control at the prison.

On tonight’s show Tyreese, Bob, Michonne, and Daryl head out to find supplies and they run into some walkers. Sickness continues to spread through the prison with no cure in sight. Rumor has it at one point the only survivor left not sick is Maggie. Meanwhile, conditions at the prison get worse

Rick is wrapping a bandage around his hand, it still shakes because of the pain he is in. Lizzie goes to see Carol between some glass; she is going on a run with Rick. Lizzie asks if Daryl is dead and Carol tells her no that the medicine is very far; Rick and her are going to find some more food since they are getting pretty low. Lizzie mentions she feels like lots of people are going to die and when they come back they are still someone too her; she believes if she dies she will be different but still be her when she turns. Lizzie tells Carol that she is strong, Carol tells her she will have to kill people to survive and no matter who they are. Lizzie shows off her knife to Carol and accidentally calls her mom, Lizzie then mentions she isn’t afraid to kill but just afraid in general; Carol tells her to never give up and that she will be fine.

Tyreese is cleaning off his clothes in a lake, Bob tells him to hurry up and that they should move on faster. Tyreese isn’t confident that everyone is alive, Bob tells him to just keep moving. Rick and Carol are driving in a car, it’s very silent between the two. Carol mentions Maggie wanted to come; Rick says she had to stay back and watch over things. Carol mentioned when killing Karen and David it was to make it fast and painless; they would have drowned in their own blood and wanted to stop the disease spreading. Daryl and his group are walking down a road and picks up a rock off the ground, and walks on. Rick and Carol reach a street with houses and look into a car, which looks like people were there. Daryl and his group find a gas station; Daryl looks into a window and a walker starts going crazy inside. They start trying to find an entrance into the building and Tyreese forces it open; a walker grabs Daryl and Bob; Michonne cuts one of their arms off and frees Daryl. Michonne then goes and cuts off the head of the one who has Bob.

Tyreese grabs a walker and Bob shoots him in the head. Michonne questions why Tyreese didn’t let go of the walker and he just ignores her. Rick and Carol walk into a house, Rick goes into the bathroom and starts taking medication and other supplies. A walker falls down the stairs and Carol stabs it in the head, Rick pulls out his gun and people come out that offer them fruits. The girl and the guy they find mention how they escaped the walkers; the guy dislocated his shoulder and got some glass into his arm; Carol lays him on the table and forces the mans arm back into place. It works and she patches him up, they got split up from their group and have been trying to survive by themselves for now. Rick mentions that the flesh eaters are walkers, he then begins asking them his three questions. Daryl is inside the gas station with Bob, the two are looking around; Daryl finds a battery and takes it out.

Tyreese and Michonne are clearing some vines off a car, Michonne tells Tyreese that he is pissed and has every reason to be but his anger is making him very stupid and that will make him get killed. Tyreese asks if Michonne is angry at the Governor, she says she’d cut him down if he was here but she isn’t angry. Tyreese asks why she still looks for him, she says that she doesn’t even know. Daryl finds puke, finding two people who committed suicide. Daryl and Bob find a walker who is trapped under a giant fan; Bob then sees a picture of the owner and his family on the wall. Bob goes and stabs the walker in the head with a screw driver. Rick tells the two survivors that they passed his test and can’t guarantee their safety if they come because of a flu, they both agree to go back but Carol offers them to try and sweep around through the houses with them. Rick isn’t so trusting but Carol is all game for it, Rick hands them each a gun and tells them if they fire a shot they will come running. Rick hands the man a watch.

Daryl is smoking with Bob; Bob mentions when they found him walking on the road he was done being a witness; he was the last one standing. Bob mentions when you are out alone with the silence it was hard to sleep or anything, he only went with them to get a bottle of alcohol; but he put it down and blames himself for having Zach killed.

Rick and Carol are setting up the car to leave; Rick says she shouldn’t have killed Karen and David. Rick says that when people find out what she did; they will be upset with her and even mentions Tyreese will die. Carol says no one has to know, she tells him she could have pretended everything would be fine but she had to do something; Rick tells her that she didn’t. Carol says she will leave with Lizzie and her sister, Rick tells her that she will survive somewhere else; he is not comfortable with having her at the prison with the kind of choice she made. Daryl is looking at the rock he found while Tyreese and Michonne are planning the route back; Michonne then mentions that the trail for the Governor went cold and won’t go out anymore. Carol gets in a different car and drives off on her own, Daryl and the gang are in the car themself and it’s very silent between them all. Rick is on his own driving back.

Rick questions if it’s right to let the kids come back with them; Carol says it’s the most humane thing to do. Rick asks if it’s right thought, Carol then says if they are strong enough to help them then it’s the right call. Carol says she killed two people but he won’t say anything about it, Rick asks what she wants him to say. Carol says nothing but wants him to face reality; he can be a farmer but it can’t be the only thing that he is. Carol says Rick is a good leader, Rick says he never murdered nobody of their own only someone who tried to kill them. Carol says she did what she did because of the same thing, Rick says that they don’t know if they would have killed them. Daryl and his group enter a vet and are looking for medical supplies to use. Rick and Carol go outside and are picking tomatoes from a garden, Carol mentions she never knew she could be strong; but this world changed her. Rick asks why Carol never says her daughters name; Carol says “Sofia” and then mentions she’s dead and it can’t be changed. Rick mentions how he sometimes expects to wake up to see Lorie telling him to pick up Carl from School and how her pancakes were horrible; but he misses those pancakes and those times. Rick notices a trail of blood leading off somewhere and finds the girls leg on the ground, she was killed by walkers.

Bob tells the group what they should be looking for to help the sick at the prison; they get all of the supplies and are set to leave. Daryl finds a bunch of walkers in a room and they all start rushing away from them; they walk into this dark room and the door is busted. A walker jumps out and Tyreese smashes him to pieces with his hammer; they find a door the is full of zombies while there are some coming from behind; Michonne and Tyreese open the door and they kill the ones behind the door and make a run for it going up a stairwell. Rick and Carol are sitting back and waiting for the guy to come back; Carol says it’s taking long but Rick believes they should give him a little time. Carol mentions that they have to go. Daryl and the gang smash a window so that they can escape; they go out side but Bob jumped out wrongly and is trying to pull up the medical supplies that the walkers are grabbing. Bob pulls it back up and all that is inside is a bottle of alcohol; Daryl tells him that he should just not joined up with them. Bob goes to pull out a gun and Daryl then goes and takes his gun; Tyreese tells him to let it go. Bob says he didn’t want to hurt anybody but he only wants the drink for when it gets quiet.  Bob explained earlier to Daryl that he cannot stand the quiet after witnessing the death of people.  Daryl tells him if he hurts anyone that he will beat his ass into the ground. The group walks off leaving Bob to follow behind.
