Tom Cruise, in a very revealing statement, has said that he never abandoned his daughter, Suri Cruise, and continues to play an important role in her life. They’re quite close, he confirms, and he’ll no longer stay silent as the media bombards him with outlandish accusations. In his $5o million lawsuit against Life and Style and In Touche magazines, Cruise states in documents, “I have in no way cut Suri out of my life — whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise.”
Cruise is suing for defamation and invasion of privacy — and throwing a massive punch at the tabloids, which he feels have blown his life totally out of proportion.
In the docs, he continually defends his fatherhood, stating, “even during the times when I was working overseas and was not able to see Suri in person, we were (and continue to be) extremely close.”
When In Touch ran its headline, ABANDONED BY DADDY, Cruise was in fact filming two movies and, technically, not right beside his daughter; however, he defends himself by saying, “As my numerous emails with Suri’s mother during this time period demonstrate, I was a constant presence in Suri’s life.”
“While I’m sure my daughter misses me when I am not with her (as I miss her), she is a very happy child, and we have a wonderful relationship and cheerful phone calls.”
