Love is in the air and on tonight’s episode it’s Jessa’s turn to be swept off her feet. Ben, the lucky man that’s been courting her, has finally worked up the courage to ask her for father’s permission to marry her. And no surprises here that Jim Bob said “yes”.

An engagement has been on the cards for a while now. It was pretty much a done deal when Ben moved into the Duggars’s spare apartment. So, really, no one is shocked when they hear Ben is going to propose. No, the awe factor exactly doesn’t kick in until he tells them how he’s going to propose.

Ben is going to create a personalized scavenger’s hunt for Jessa and he even wants her family to participate. He called Josh and Anna asking for their help. And he’s also included her sisters. However there was one thing Ben didn’t factor in and that was if Jessa said “no”.

Josh and Anna had joked around with him about the “what if”. And the only response he had was that she wasn’t allowed to say no.

Jokes aside though there was some glaring holes in Ben’s plan. For instance, the first part of the hunt was supposed to be a wrapped gift but Ben didn’t know how to wrap a gift. So stage one was kind of a hot mess. It literally wrapping paper everywhere and the final product was sweet but laughable. And as for stage two, a date chaperoned by both their parents ended up being a tad more significant than anyone had planned.

When they got to the restaurant, Jim Bob had told everyone to join hands so that they could pray before the food arrived. But Ben and Jessa were originally holding off on holding hands until they got engaged. Hence they broke that promise (without any form of second guessing) when they prayed. Luckily, Jessa was okay with it and said it didn’t matter because they were still going to wait for their first kiss until they were married.

Though by this point, Jessa had figured out Ben was gearing up for a proposal. But they had their chaperoned date and nothing happened. All he gave her at the restaurant was a poorly wrapped present that he told her she wasn’t supposed to open until tomorrow.

So that was very clever of Ben. He kind of gave her a fake out with a dinner that involved both their parents. The real proposal was going to be something much more elaborate!

After Jessa had opened her present, she had found a clue that led to having her brother John David fly her to a location. Then she went mini-golfing. And that was significant in its own way. The first date Ben and Jessa had ever been on was mini-golfing with her parents.

Ben had added a lot of personal touches to his scavenger’s hunt. He had her go on a trolley ride and had the ride outfitted with pictures of D.C. When he visisted her brother and Anna, the two of them had gone on a trolley tour of the area.

Then he had her collect roses in a park filled with people. Hence he pushed her out of her comfort zone. Jessa doesn’t really like interacting with strangers all that much. And then Jessa found herself was waiting on a train. She thought she would finally get to Ben on the train. Yet he wasn’t there. Instead it was her family and his mother waiting for her.

So Jessa started to get impatient. She wanted to see Ben and to her it felt like it was taking forever. But the wait proved to be worth it. Because the final stop on the scavenger’s hunt turned out to be the place Jessa had said she wish she could get married at.

However the place was too small of a fit for her whole family so she was ultimately going to have to settle on somewhere else. So, when Ben had found out about this place that she seemingly loved so much, he proposed to her there and then. That way the venue still got to play a part in their story.

Who knew Ben could be that sweet and romantic?

THE END!
