Derrick reveals that he wants to ask for Jill’s hand in marriage. Jim Bob thinks that Jill and Derrick are a great match, but he has concerns about how he will provide for her. Derrick reveals that he just started a new job, and Jim Bob confesses that he believes Derrick is the one that Jill is supposed to marry. He gives Derrick his blessing and tells him he will make a great husband and future father.

The next day the entire Duggar family hits the road and heads to New York City for a book tour, Josh and Anna meet the family in NYC to see everyone. The four oldest Duggar girls, Jinger, Jessa, Jill, and Jenn wrote a book called “Growing Up Duggar” and they head to Good Morning America to promote it. Michelle and Jim Bob are proud of how well they handle the interview on air.

After their GMA interview Michelle and the four older girls go for a walk in New York, and decide to stop at a bridal shop so Jill and Jessa can try on wedding gowns in case their courters Ben and Derrick decide to pop the question.

The next day Jill, Jenn, Jessa, and Jinger head to a book signing for Growing Up Duggar and mingle with some of their fans. In the middle of the book signing Jill gets a video call from Derrick and steps away from the table, he invites her to go on a lunch date with him when she gets back home.

Back home Derrick begins planning his proposal for Jill, he heads to the jeweler with his Mom to get the engagement ring he picked out for her sized. He heads home and picks out the suit he plans to wear. He does his hair just the way the Jill likes it, and even uses hairspray that she gave him to hold it in place. He jokes to his Mom that he has even practiced getting down on one knee.

Derrick arrives at the Duggar house and picks up Jill, and her two sisters Jana and Joy so that they can chaperone their date. They head out to lunch. Joy and Jana were told the night before that he was going to propose, and can’t help but notice how nervous he is. Afterwards they go for a walk and head to the town square. A stranger sitting on a bench, stops them and asks them if he can sing a song to them on his guitar. Once he starts playing, three more musicians arrive and it is obvious that the song was staged. Once they are done playing Derrick, gets down on one knee and asks Jill to marry him. She accepts his proposal.

Afterwards Jill calls a Duggar family meeting. They decided that now that they are engaged they can lift some of the restrictions of their courtship and start holding hands. They arrive at the Duggar house and reveal to Jill’s parents that they are engaged and show her ring to all of her siblings.

Jim Bob is having a tough time imagining giving Jill away, but he knows that Derrick is the guy for her, and Michelle knows that Jill is ready to become a wife.
