Angelina Jolie, coming off Brad Pitt‘s Oscar win, her own honorary Oscar, and a wrap on her second film Unbroken, is a busy, busy lady. However, she hasn’t forgotten about her preventative double mastectomy, which she revealed to massive worldwide attention last year.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly [while promoting Maleficent], she revealed that she constantly gets approached by women of all ages and backgrounds, and that they often discuss health issues, women’s issues, and cancer. She reveals, “It makes me feel closer to other people who deal with the same things and have either lost their parents or are considering surgeries or wondering about their children.”
However, although Angelina already completed three months of surgeries last February, she reveals that she still has another surgery to go. She explains, “There’s still another surgery to have, which I haven’t yet. I’ll, you know, I’ll get advice from all these wonderful people who I’ve been talking to, to get through that next stage.”
It’s been a busy year for her and it’s about to be another busy year, so it’s obvious why she’s not going ahead with the surgery just yet. She just finished an Oscar campaign side-by-side with Brad, and then she has promotion coming up for Maleficent. Right after that, she’ll have to go into another awards season for Unbroken, if everything goes according to plan. She’s probably going to wait for all the press and attention to die down for all of her work, and then go ahead with the surgery. Hopefully her recovery goes as smoothly as it did for her other surgeries, and we wish her the best of luck.
