Tonight on the CW their hit fantasy drama BEAUTY AND THE BEAST airs with their finale episode for season 2 called, “Déjà Vu.” On tonight’s episode Cat fears Vincent must die in order for Gabe to be stopped in the Season 2 finale.
On the last episode, desperate to start over with Cat (Kristin Kreuk), Gabe (Sendhil Ramamurthy) tried to woo her by taking her on a romantic date. However, she had plans of her own regarding how to save Vincent (Jay Ryan) – while also trying to plan Heather’s (guest star Nicole Gale Anderson) bachelorette party. Nina Lisandrello and Austin Basis also star. Fred Gerber directed the episode written by Sherri Cooper and Jennifer Levin. Did you watch the last episode? In New York in 1854, the search is on for a beast. People run through the streets with torches to track him down. He leaps down from a roof and is nearly shot but a woman stops him – Rebecca. The beast thanks her then tries to get her to listen. She tells him that Alistair is a beast now and is framing him and she says that’s what his goal is and she says they need to do this together.
She’s having a nightmare and Vincent comes in and tries to take her journal away. She says someone was trying to destroy her Vincent too. He says Gabe is no longer a threat and tells her that past is a past and he’s more concerned with their future. He kisses her and goes to make eggs. Catherine asks why her ancestor would kill the love of her life after trying to save him.
Vincent says the manhunt, Gabe and the threat of exposure is over and the 200 year old drama of Rebecca’s is over. He says no one is after him anymore. There’s a knock at the door. JT is there and asks why they’re not answering their phones. Turns out Gabe has beasted out and Vincent says he’s the only one that can stop him. JT says Gabe is more badass and can blur now because he used the new serum
They come to the crime scene and see Beth dead. He ripped her heart out. JT says that Gabe is out to destroy him since she was going to write about him. He looks around and visualizes the crime. Tess tells JT to go back to the lab and figure out how this happens. The press is there and grills Vincent on the crime. Catherine says Gabe wants Vincent to go after him and says he wants him to beast out.
Catherine wants to call Agent Knox and Tess says she’ll try to slow up the investigation. Gabe is attacking Knox even as Catherine calls him. She hears the attack and Gabe choke the life out of the agent. He rips his heart out and picks up the phone and then growls into it. Catherine says his name. She’s in shock. This is just like her ancestor’s journal and she’s worried.
Cat tells Vincent he can’t kill Gabe and he says it has to stop. She says not this way and says she wants to kill him too but they can’t because it’s wrong. She says he can’t go back to being judge, jury and executioner but Vincent says this has to stop now. JT gets a call from Tess and she tells him that Gabe killed Knox and that Vincent has gone after it.
JT says he crunched some numbers and that Gabe will kill Vincent – he’s faster, stronger and beastier. Tess says she’s on the way and JT says when she gets there he wants to talk about them. She hangs up. Cat goes to talk to her dad in jail and Robert tells her that the only way is to get the beast collar onto Gabe and that Vincent is the only one that can get close enough to do it.
Cat says she has to stop Vincent and her dad says Vincent will only get worse and she says he’s better but he says eventually they all turn into monsters. He says maybe her love made the difference and says it was like what Rebecca did for Alistair. He says he and Vincent are a lot alike. She asks how that helps her now. He says there is a point of no return and that if Gabe has crossed the line, Vincent will have to cross it to take him out and she’ll lose him anyway.
Robert suggests capturing Gabe like he caught Vincent last year. He says to save Vincent she has to keep him away from Gabe. Back in time, we see Alistair facing off against his beast. They attack each other in full beast mode. Tess asks JT what’s taking so long tracking Vincent and gives him the 411 on what’s going on. JT found Gabe in Chinatown and it looks like he’s just sitting and waiting. They call Cat and head out.
Vincent shows up and Gabe senses him getting close and tells him that he had to go beast to protect Cat from Vincent. He says he can tell he’s close and asks what he’s scared of. He says he’ll keep killing people close to him until he comes for him. JT darts Vincent and he and Tess haul him into a car with Cat. They speed away as Gabe watches, eyes flaring. JT and Tess take off at a run too.
Back at JT’s, they have Vincent knocked out and are drawing his blood to use it to lure Gabe. She tells them all of this is in her journal. She says if she can see how Rebecca protected Alistair, she can protect Vincent. She says his blood will lead Gabe into their trap. Tess says her boss is on board but only if they can prove Gabe is the killer, not Vincent.
Cat says the evidence needs to lead solely to Gabe and not reveal anything about Vincent. She flips through Rebecca’s journal looking for more information. We see the crowd tracking the beast by his blood. Rebecca has Alistair and is caring for him. She says he almost died and he says he has to stop him from killing innocent people. She says it may be her destiny to kill the beast. She leaves and locks Alistair in with the power of the gem.
JT gives Cat the gem and the vials of Vincent’s blood. She tells him to get tranq darts to the precinct and says they have to do this right or it will be their word against Gabe’s. He tells Tess to be careful and the women head out. Vincent is still comatose – she has him in her car. Cat says she can’t lose Vincent and Tess says she’s taking a big risk. Tess says the plan is crazy and Cat says she’ll do what she has to.
Gabe is still stalking JT at his lab. Cat brings Vincent to a safe place and she tells him she has a plan to take care of Gabe. She says she can’t lose him and tells him to trust her. She says it’s her destiny. She locks him in just like Rebecca did and leaves the gem to seal him there. He begs her to stop, just like Alistair did.
The cops gear up and they have the tranq darts loaded too. The Cap asks where Cat is and Tess asks again if Cat will get her shield back if this works. He says he wants either Gabe or Vincent and says it ends tonight one way or the other. Cat meets Tess and says it was hard to lock Vincent up. Tess says Ward is under pressure and they have to deliver. Cat says it feels wrong doing it without Vincent.
Tess says SWAT is locked and loaded and Cat wonders if Rebecca and her dead were wrong. She says she wonders if by making Vincent vulnerable, she’s putting him at risk. Cat says she’s going to lay down the blood trail. Tess says she’s envious of what she and Vincent have and Cat says she doesn’t want this and says it’s made her wonder if JT really is the one.
She tells her to go get Gabe so they can all sort their lives out. Vincent paces the cell she left him in and stares at the green gem on the table. He beasts up and runs at the bars. Nothing. He does it again. Nothing. He keeps at it. Nothing. He’s just hurting himself. We see Alistair in the same predicament back in time.
Cat walks around with the blood vials and leaves a trail. She thinks about what she read in the journal and what Rebecca said. She thinks about her argument with Vincent. She thinks about Vincent begging her not to leave him there. She thinks about Alistair being captured back in the day. She sees him being dragged to be burnt and then Rebecca seeing that Alistair wasn’t in the cage where she left him.
He’s burned while he screams he’s innocent and she watches him scream in pain and die. Cat drops the vial and runs back to Vincent. She finds him still in the cage and unlocks him rapidly. He asks her if Gabe did something and she says JT and Robert had her convinced that he isn’t saveable. He tells her to get the gem out of his sight. She says she needs to trust him and that what they’ve been through makes them stronger. She asks him to forgive her. He says no, then okay. They kiss.
He says she was right for stopping him from going after Gabe. He says he only saw revenge and she says caring is what makes him different from Gabe. He asks where they start and she says JT is putting together evidence and says they need to trap Gabe. He says they can do it together. They head out. Cat and Vincent show up to JT’s and find him strung up and bloody. He looks dead.
They call the EMTs and JT is cut down. Tess is there while he gets emergency medical care. He’s alive, but isn’t doing well. He has trauma and extreme blood loss. Tess asks what happened and where they’re taking him. Cat tells Tess to go be with JT and she cries and says she was mean to him but Cat says JT knows how she feels about him. She heads out to go after him.
Cat goes after Vincent who is on the street looking around. He says their deal is done since he butchered JT. He says Gabe ripped JT to shreds and may die. He says Gabe won’t stop and Cat says this is what he wants. She says they have to do it together. She asks what if he fails and dies. She says if that happens, Gabe will kill them all anyway.
She says he can’t do it alone. Gabe calls Vincent and says to come out and play. He hears him and walks away from Cat. She follows. Vincent is in a pool hall alone and Gabe asks if this is where he wants to do it. Vincent says Gabe can’t handle rejection and he can’t handle what he did to JT, Beth and Agent Knox. Gabe says he had to get his attention. He asks Vincent if Cat will take him back once he kills Vincent and he says he doesn’t think so.
They beast out and the brawl starts. Vincent throws Gabe into the bar and they are beating each other senseless. Sirens sound outside and Gabe has him down by the neck and says Cat would be proud of him since he didn’t cross the line. Cat slaps the beast collar on him and says he’s going to jail. He says she has all the evidence they need. He slaps her down and then lunges at her. She grabs up a pole and when he jumps at her, he impales himself. Vincent pulls her up and kisses her and says it’s over.
At the station, Cat hands Ward all the evidence on Gabe and what he did to make himself the beast. She says he used cross-species DNA to make himself the killer he was. Ward says this is pretty wild and she and Vincent are lucky to be alive. Vincent asks if he’s off the hook and Ward says if the evidence proves out, then yes. Cat says they need to get to the hospital but Ward stops her and hands her back her badge.
At the hospital, Tess sits in the waiting room distraught. Cat and Vincent come in and she says he’s not going to make it. She says the doctor said he lost too much blood and there’s nothing they can do. Vincent says he needs to see him and a code blue sounds. Vincent runs off and into his room. JT smiles when they come in. He asks what’s up. Tess kisses him and Vincent says they won.
Cat asks if he’s going to be okay. The doctor pulls off his mask and Vincent says – you. Cat and Vincent leave to talk to the guy. Vincent introduces her to the government agents that tested him and they said they saved JT’s life by using an experimental procedure. They tell them they won’t tell them anything more unless they agree to work with them.
They tell them there are lot more threats out there created by science and tell Vincent they have to talk soon. They tell him to keep an eye on JT’s T-cell count and that they’ll be in touch. Vincent and Cat sit at the waterfront. She says she thinks Gabe tried to make amends but he just couldn’t because he crossed the line with his beast. Vincent says her love is what has saved him from being like the others.
She asks what she gets out of this and he says a kick ass boyfriend and bodyguard and she says she’ll take it. They kiss and he asks what she thinks about Agent Thomas’ offer. She says she doesn’t want to think about it right now. She says she just wants to be there in the moment with him right now. They kiss.
