#Castle starts now. A guy is taking out the trash behind a movie theater when he hears a noise. He looks but sees no one. Then he notices someone slumped on the stairs – it’s the Lance DeLorca, the guy from the movie poster. Castle teases Kate about some of her stuff while she packs. Her cousin Sophia is moving in and Castle says he won’t miss her apartment. He complains about the creaky floor and she’s a little insulted. She takes the call about the case.

Javi says the usher saw someone fleeing the scene – a guy in a dark coat – and thinks he may be an actor. Castle says it’s Lance DeLorca and says he’s the star of all the Hard Kill movies and had the catch phrase “time to hit cruise control.” He says he had some setbacks from drugs and booze and they wonder if he was there to watch one of his own movies. Lanie says Lance was in a fight before he died and died from a garotte.

Kate asks who would kill with that and Castle says – how could you get the drop on him. Javi reminds him he’s an actor but Castle says the guy was in black ops in Spain before he became an actor. At the PD, Castle plays one of his favorite clips from a DeLorca movie for Javi and Ryan. It’s your typical 80s movie action cheese. He says Hard Kill was his bro time being raised by a single mom.

He says his sidekick was always Brock Harmon and Ryan says he’s in the Indestructibles, the movie series about the action heroes banding together. Castle points out Brock’s wife who is also in the flick – Naomi Duvray. Ryan and Javi mock the movie and then Kate comes in and busts them watching the movie. Javi says no prints or DNA on the garotte and Castle says he knows she was married to Kat Kingsley. Kate says she’s on the way in and he has a fanboy fit.

Kate tells him he may need to sit this one out. Later, they have Kat there and ask who may want to harm Lance. She says they tried to have lunch a week ago but it didn’t work out. She says they were having an amicable divorce. She says Brock is directing the next Indestructibles film which Lance is in. She says Lance was staying with Brock. They head over to the set and Castle is in seventh heaven. Kate calls it cheesy and says Serafina, the MMA chick is hanging out with guys old enough to be her grandpa.

Castle points out Rolf Magnus and tells her he’s in Mensa (he’s obvi the Dolf Lundgren character). He then points out Clay Biggs, top of his class at Julliard. Brock calls cut and complains about his automatic rifle not working properly. Kate introduces she and Castle to him and Brock says he’s read a lot of Castle’s books on the john. He introduces Naomi to them and tells them she just launched her jewelry line. Castle is geeing out bad.

He also introduces his son Trey. Kate asks to speak to Brock privately. He says Lance was in remission because he got a bone marrow transplant. He says he cleaned up his act once he got a second chance so that’s why he gave him a part in the movie – to try and reboot his career. Brock says he thought Lance left town because his part of the film had already finished. He asks how Lance died and Kate tells him about the garotte. Brock says Lance was a former CNI assassin and the garotte was his weapon.

Castle tells Kate later that Lance was a real-life Jason Bourne. He says his shadowy past caught up with him. Kate says he left CNI 30 years ago then asks why it would matter but Gates is there and says he may be right. She says Lance’s phone records show he called Interpol the day he died – a call to Enrique Gomez and a former CNI agent as well. Castle says this will lead to a world of deceit, villainy and international espionage. Castle says this will be better than one of his movies and Kate says it would have to be.

Gates takes a call from Interpol and says Gomez is here in New York for a meeting at the UN. He was on a plane when Lance died and Kate says CNI is stone walling her on Lance’s work for them. Gates and Kate agree to contact their DC network. Ryan and Javi tell Kate the movie chauffeur dropped Lance off at a seedy motel and paid the guy $100 to keep it a secret. He has a room there under his movie character name.

Ryan says he needs a catch phrase – he says time to pay the bill for doing the kill. Javi tells him to keep working. They find some off stuff in the box of junk from Lance’s hotel room. There was a soldering iron and some stickers – the two and five were missing. They find out he contacted Trey and they go talk to him. He says Lance was asking him about the NY club scene but he didn’t want to help him since the guy just got sober.

They show him a floor plan they found in Lance’s stuff and asks if it looks like a club. He doesn’t recognize and tells them that Lance told him he had something he needed to take care of. Castle tells Kate he thinks Lance went on one last mission to take care of an old rival, a secret wife or another agent that went rogue. Castle says he thinks a younger operative got him. Javi says it may be a woman. He shows them some security photos where a woman followed Lance out of the hotel.

Kate says the woman may be in a wig and turned away from the camera. Gomez is there and says he doesn’t recognize her and was sad to hear about Lance. He says Lance called him about getting a body guard but he didn’t have anyone. Gomez tells them Lance was never CNI. He says they grew up together and that Lance was a goat herder before coming to America but asked Gomez if he could use his CNI career as a back story. Kate confirms all this. Castle is devastated.

Tory tells them she may have ID’d the woman. She says she looked at her ear and says ear biometrics are almost as unique as fingerprints. Tori says she ran the ear against anyone that had anything to do with Lance. She ID’s Kat Kingsley. – his soon-to-be ex-wife. Javi and Ryan go in with Castle to peek through the two-way mirror at Kat.

She’s in a hot costume for her next movie and Castle says their divorce was a little messier than she let on. Kate comes in and tells Kat that their divorce was getting nasty. Kat says they’re actors and things get stormy. Kat asks if she thinks she killed Lance and Kate reminds her the time she almost shot him. Kat says she was just cleaning the gun. They show her the photo of her following Lance. She says Lance asked her to meet with him in secret. She says he needed $200k.

She says his assets were tied up in the divorce and he swapped her the $200k for his share of their Malibu house. She says he told her he had to make things right. Kate asks if she was the person fleeing the crime scene and Kat says it was. She says Lance called her from a pay phone and says people were after him and asked her to come pick him up. She says she got there and he was already dead. Kate asks why she didn’t tell them before and she says she panicked.

Castle says he doesn’t think she’s the killer. Castle says she has no reason to admit she was at the crime scene and the $200k story lines up with the bank withdrawal she made and the paper they signed about the house. Castle says he was becoming Rico Cruz and decided to take on one real mission. Ryan says her story is holding up and they found she did get a call from that pay phone. Kate tells Lanie she’s annoyed with Castle’s remarks about her place.

Lanie says to him it’s just an apartment with creaky floors, but to Kate it’s the place she solved her mom’s murder and fell in love. Kate says it’s the best apartment ever and they toast. Ryan says they canvassed and someone saw Lance running out of an alley that led them to security footage. They see four guys have Lance cornered. He beats them all up and Castle is thrilled. He says it’s just like from the movies. Castle says these are the guys that must have been after him when he called Kat.

Castle rewatches the footage like a total nerd when Kate comes back and says they can’t see the guys close enough to ID them. Castle says the $200k and the listening device he made in his hotel room is key. Javi says an ambulance was called to that area and a heavy set dude was brought in with a fractured jaw. Ryan says he recognizes that guy from the movie set. They go back to the set and found out his name is Ernest Howe and he’s got a bit, no-name part.

Ryan goes over to confront him and asks about Lance. They ask if his jaw is okay and he says he doesn’t want any trouble. Ryan tries out a catch phrase that falls flat and Javi says they know what happened. Ernest says he was Lance’s bodyguard and went with him to Club Drift and says he was attacked after some guys from the club accused Lance of wearing a wire. They wonder why he was in that club with cash and they wonder if he was running a half-assed drug sting.

Henry Allen Booth, El Jeffe from Lance’s movies, went from playing a drug boss in the Hard Kill movies to becoming a real-life drug dealer. Ryan asks why Lance would go after Booth and Castle says this is so meta. They go see Booth who says he met with Lance and they had a drink. He says his role in Hard Kill bought him his club. He denies being a drug dealer but says it’s a good lie that helps his club.

Kate asks about the briefcase of money and Booth says he didn’t see one. Castle says they have video but Booth says not of his guys. He tells them he never left the building and there are witnesses that can attest to it. Kate notices a model car on the shelf and it catches her eye. Castle asks why they didn’t push harder on him and she says she figured out the 5 and 2 – she says there is a blue Shelby Cobra on Booth’s shelf and there was a listening device in it.

Castle says they need that slot car and Kate says they just need a warrant to get it. They talk to Brock and tell him they can’t get a warrant without some more proof. They ask if Lance told him he was going to the club but Brock says he thought he was in LA. Brock asks how Lance knew to bug a slot car and Castle shows him the photo of a feature story on Booth’s mini car collection. He asks if Castle was a big fan of Hard Kill and Castle tries to play it cool.

Brock invites him out for drinks with the rest of the crew tonight and he’s so stunned he can’t speak. He rushes to tell Kate he’s going out for drinks with the Indestructibles. She says he can’t go because they’re on a case then tells him she’s kidding. He’s so geeked out. Castle gets in the van with Brock and some huge guys and they tell him they’re going after the evidence. He says no one can kill one of their own.

Castle says that will make the car inadmissible but the smart action guy says the DA would likely consider it since the car was Lance’s because he made a fake of the Shelby to replace the real car. He says also none of them are an agent of the law, so they’re in the clear. Serafina is there too. They tell Castle he’s going to help them find the car. Castle says his wife is a cop and will kill him. They mock him and he caves. He tells Castle – we’re the Indestructibles.

Castle pulls off his shirt sleeves and joins them. They head to the club with a plan. Serafina is going to do advanced recon. Two will create a distraction at the bar and the bartender calls and tells Booth some old friends of his are there. He leaves his office and goes down to the bar. Serafina unlocks the rear door to let Castle and Brock in so they can go for the goods. They head into Booth’s office but downstairs he tries to go back upstairs. They tell Castle and Brock to abort.

They panic but Castle has the car. They duck under his desk and radio Serafina for help. She pulls the fire alarm and an annoyed Booth walks out. That gives Castle and Brock the chance to bail out. Castle says this is the best night ever because he’s starring in his own action movie. He tells Kate a concerned citizen gave it to him. He won’t say anymore. They plug in the recording device but the sound isn’t working. Kate has headphones and won’t let him hear it.

She says she can’t reward his semi-illegal behavior. She says she hears Lance walk into the office and then they get down to business. She says OMG repeatedly and it’s torturing Castle that he doesn’t know what’s going on. They call in Trey and asks how well he knows Booth. He says he knows him through his dad and they tell him they know that Booth used his work as a club promoter to sell drugs all over the city. Trey says he didn’t know about the drugs until it was too late and he owned him.

Castle asks if his buy out was $200k. Trey says he wanted to take care of it himself and not let Brock Harmon come to his rescue. He says he tried to talk Lance out of it and told him he was going to get them both killed. Kate says they have an audio recording of Lance in Booth’s office. We hear Booth making a call to Trey and he tells him to take care of Lance or he’ll take care of Trey. Kate says he killed Lance. He says he wouldn’t.

He says he freaked and called his mom who told him she’d call a lawyer and take care of everything. He says he was at his office all night and the cleaning crew can verify it. Castle asks why Lance would do all this for him. He says he doesn’t know but Lance says he told him he had some things to tell him. Ryan says when Lance got his bone marrow donor he found out there was a second near match and tells them to look at the name.

They go to the set to talk to Naomi who asks about her son. She says they all signed up to be bone marrow donors. They tell her they ran DNA and confirmed that Trey was Lance’s son. The also tell her they know she was out very late the night Lance was killed. She tells them to leave and they tell her the wire from her jewelry line matches the wire from the garotte. Naomi says Lance would have destroyed her family and her whole life and she couldn’t let him do that.

Brock walks up and asks what’s going on. Later, Gates tells them Booth has been arrested because Trey decided to testify against him. She tells them good work. Kate says they should watch Hard Kill tonight in honor of Lance. She says to open a bottle of wine and cue up the movie and she’ll be there soon. She goes back to her apartment one last time to look around. She carves her initials into a wood support and heads out with one long last look back.

THE END!
