Perhaps if Columbus Short had kept his gladiator antics confined to the small screen in ABC’s Scandal he would still have a job. Instead, as CDL told you a week ago before any other site, Short is fired. The actor has been involved in a string of domestic altercations with his soon-to-be ex wife Tuere in the last few months and then there was that bar room beat-down that ended with Short being slapped with a felony battery charge in March. All of these things combined kind of made Short look like a violent hot head and that is pretty obviously not the look that ABC is going for when it comes to one of their hottest shows. It was confirmed today that Short will not be back for season four of the hit show.
At least as far as storyline goes the firing comes at a convenient point. Short’s character, Harrison appeared to take a bullet for knowing a little too much so my guess is that this portion of the season three cliffhanger will end with Harrison’s demise. As for the actor being fired, do you agree with the show and network for deciding it was time to distance themselves from him? Did it become obvious to you guys that Short couldn’t or absolutely shouldn’t retain his job?
While the network has yet to comment much they have cited “creative differences” as the official reason why Short is leaving. I find that to be pretty hilarious because Scandal is part of Shondaland and there seems to be no room for discussion. Shonda Rhimes is the creative genius and everyone sort of bows to her. Will there be a real comment about Short’s departure or do you think they are simply feeling like it’s good ridance? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
