Dallas RECAP 2/24/14: Season 3 Premiere “The Return” #DALLAS

My favorite television show DALLAS returns tonight to TNT with it’s season six premiere called, “The Return.” On tonight’s premiere as the betrayals mount, the arrival of a mysterious stranger puts everyone’s plans at risk.  Did you watch last season’s finale?  If you want to get get caught up before tonight’s premiere we have you covered, right here.

On last season’s finale the Ewings united to execute J.R.’s master plan. Twists and turns abound as each family member tried to ensure its success in ways that would make even a scoundrel like J.R. Ewing proud.

Season 3 will work to fulfill many lingering questions, including the biggest one of all . . . Who killed JR? Do you think it was his ambitious son? Could one of his many enemies have ended his life? So many possibilities.

On tonight’s episode season 3 kicks off with the Ewings on top, having vanquished Cliff Barnes (guest star Ken Kercheval) and taken over his company. The Ewings are united, with Sue Ellen planning a wedding for John Ross and Pamela. But solidarity among them can only last for so long. John Ross quickly gets into conflict with Bobby over their joint ownership of Southfork Ranch, while also putting his marriage at risk as he enters into an illicit liaison with Emma. Meanwhile, Christopher’s relationship with Elena seems irreparable as Elena returns to Dallas with her own secret agenda for justice. As the betrayals mount, the arrival of a mysterious stranger puts everyone’s plans at risk.

12 hours after the last episode ended… We’re back in Dallas and Bobby is talking to JR’s headstone telling him they finally won. He talks to Miss Ellie’s grave and tells her he’s the caretaker of Southfork and the only one left. He gets back on his horse and rides away from the cemetery. He tells his parents’ and brother’s graves that he’ll try not to disappoint them.

John Ross lies sleeping when Emma jumps him for some early morning loving. She’s got a paper stuck to her butt and he snatches it and says it’s a Power of Attorney that will give her control of Ryland’s companies. John Ross tells her he needs control of Ryland’s cargo trucks and some ice breaking ships. She says her dad would have an aneurysm if he knew and she pushes back teasongly.

Bum waits for John Ross downstairs and he asks about the file. He says Emma is hanging onto it but John Ross is not concerned. Bum tells him to be careful and then says he has something else for him from JR. He tells him he’s earned it and hands him a wooden box. It has his dad’s iconic golden JR belt buckle in it.

Meanwhile back at the ranch… John Ross meets his new wife at the barn. He wants to show her the lover’s cross in the starry night sky and hands her a velvet box. He tells her it’s why he had to go to Houston last night – to get her the biggest diamond in Texas. He says she deserves a proper ring, wedding and proposal and drops down to one knee. He asks her to marry him and says he can’t promise her smooth sailing, but can promise the ride of her life. She tells him yes and they kiss. What a bastard!

John Ross is making plans to remodel Southfork and tells Bobby he found JR’s plans to improve the place. He says they should live like the rich folk they are but Bobby doesn’t want the house to be a monument to self-indulgence. John Ross says he needs privacy and Bobby says he can move out if he doesn’t like it. He tells him to respect the past and JR says that’s what’s holding them back. He reminds Bobby that Miss Ellie left him the house so he can do what he wants with it. Bobby isn’t happy.

Christopher is taking out his frustrations chopping wood thinking over Elena’s betrayal in hiding Drew from him when her brother cost him his childrens’ lives. He grabs up his phone and calls Elena. She’s asleep and wakes to her phone buzzing. She misses the call – there are several from him and goes out to look over the balcony. She’s still in Mexico thinking about how JR Sr cheated her Dad and how Cliff  gave her power over his shares to make the Ewings pay for their sins. She suddenly looks determined and heads out to the car.

She talks to Cliff and she says she did some research and found out that he was right and that JR’s betrayal cost her Dad his fortune and life. She agrees to be his proxy at Barne’s Global. He tells her she’s going to help him get out of jail. He says she needs leverage and she can get that by finding the evidence that will exonerate him and show they set him up. He tells her the evidence they can gather to get him out of jail so they can exact their revenge. He asks if she’s up to it and Elena says they kicked her out of a company she started and took her oil leases. She says she’s ready and that it’s not revenge, but justice!

Christopher is still at his labors when he sees a ranch hand chewing out Heather. She’s not having any of it and asks Christopher if he has something to say too. He introduces himself and they shake. She apologizes for the scene and he tells her it’s okay. He tells Heather she can come to him if he gives her more trouble but she says she can handle herself. She thanks him and rides away and he watches with admiration at her fine form.

John Ross looks at the house plans when his mom comes in and is happy to see him wearing his dad’s belt buckle and watch. She also tells him she’s pleased with how good he’s been to his new wife. She tells him she also talked to Bobby and says that he’s a steel hand in a velvet glove and shouldn’t be underestimated. She says Bobby bested JR more than he should have because of this. He tells his mother with her as an ally, he’ll do fine.

Pamela shows Anne and Sue Ellen her ring and SE tells her she’s happy about the wedding. Pamela is worried about having a second wedding at Southfork and Sue Ellen says she won’t be the first bride to have more than one there. Emma comes up and checks out the ring and asks if she can help plan the wedding. They agree. They assign her dress shopping duties. Elena shows up and then Christopher. He seems surprised that she’s back.

Elena tells the family that she knows her brother caused them a lot of blame and she’s sorry for her part in it. She says that she was just trying to help Drew and wasn’t thinking straight. She apologizes and then singles Pamela and Christopher out for an additional apology. He asks to talk to her. In private, he asks why she was avoiding his calls and she says she needed to clear her head. He tells her he was out of control and cruel in Zurich. He says he wants things to work between them.

Elena reminds him he threw her out and said he never wanted to see her again. He says he’s sorry and touches her hair. She steps back from him. She tells him that they are both still broken and need to take some time to fix themselves before they try to see if they can work out as a couple. She says she’s only back at the ranch to pack. Christopher says she’s lived there her whole life and doesn’t have to go. He says it’s her home too and she thanks him. She smiles as she walks out.
[9:37:58 PM] Rachel Rowan: Carmen comes in and asks why Elena went to Mexico to see Cliff. Elena makes excuses and distracts her mother by telling her that Drew is safely with Joaquin and is working for him. She says that Joaquin will keep Drew safe since the three of them have a pact since childhood. They discuss the Ramos taking in Joaquin as a child when he was homeless. Carmen asks how she and Christopher are doing and Elena says they’re doing okay but are taking a break. Her mom tells her the Ewings have been kind to her and Elena reminds her they’re still after Drew and to burn the letter she brought her from her son.

Christopher, Bobby, Pamela, John Ross and Sue Ellen meet over the ice drilling projects. John Ross tells them he got the ice breaking equipment from Ryland – he says the new CEO was willing to work with them. John Ross thanks Bobby for not holding a grudge for the remodeling and Bobby says it’s like working with his brother again. Christopher says they need a half-billion in cash for the project. Elena comes into the meeting and tells them she’s sorry to disturb them. She tells them she knows she doesn’t have a piece of Ewing anymore but has a lot to offer in the energy field and asks for a job. She says she’s realized that her dad’s claim is dry. They welcome her aboard and explain their whole plan to her.

Later, Elena logs onto the server and plugs in a flash drive and downloads a stack of files. She calls Cliff at the jail and tells him she got the job and is in. He hangs up and smiles.

Emma texts John Ross to come over and shag her. He smiles and puts his phone away. Bobby comes in and shares some good news and they get ready to have some celebratory champagne but are interrupted by Nicolas Trevino on behalf of Cliff Barnes to act as his proxy. Elena is confused – she thought she had his proxy. He reminds them that state law demands that they have a super majority to sell off any Barnes Global assets and they just don’t have it. He tells them he doesn’t want to fight and that he’s only there until Cliff gets out of jail. He says that Cliff says he was framed and he’s sure he’ll prevail. Nicolas sits and asks them what’s on the agenda.

Later, Pamela tells them that the proxy is legal – she had a call from the Barnes’ family lawyer. Christopher researched Trevino and finds he’s a self-made 20-something billionaire. Pamela says she had never heard of him but searched the company records and found they bought one of his companies years ago. Christopher tells Elena to set a meeting with the deciders on their new initiative to buy them some time. Christopher tells Bobby and John Ross that all of their butts are on the line if it’s found out that they trumped up the evidence. Bobby assures them they are safe.

Emma is texting when Pamela comes in. They discuss that they both put their fathers behind bars. Pamela tells Emma she’s there for her. Emma says she’s nice and can see why John Ross loves her so much. Emma smirks and texts to someone (wonder who…) to come be bad with her. John Ross shows Elena that there is a chance to drill on Southfork to raise the money they need and asks Elena if the survey is right. She tells him she’ll do anything she can to help him get the Arctic leases and looks at the land maps where he thinks there’s shale to be drilled.

John Ross shows Elena where he thinks the oil is and Christopher and Bobby join them in the field demanding to know why he’s dragged them out there. Bobby says he doesn’t have the rights to it and John Ross reveals a caveat that would allow him to drill.  Christopher says he would have to frack and it would ruin their cattle operations. He says that Cliff wants them to turn against each other and they can find another way. John Ross says they don’t have time for their plan and he’s going to frack. Bobby tells him he’s not half the man JR was and will end him. Elena watches this all with intense interest.

John Ross meets with Emma and asks her for contracts on the tankers and ships ASAP. She asks how he will pay and he unbuttons her shirt and tells her he can provide her with excellent service. He kisses Emma at her door and Sue Ellen spies them. He asks her what she wants and she ignores the smooch and tells him to compromise with Bobby so they can stay united against Trevino. She asks if he was coming out of Emma’s room and he tells her that she’s the source of the contracts.

Harris paces in his cell before he’s allowed to walk out of the jail. Some Cartel people bribed him out and they tell him that they will hurt Emma if he doesn’t get their product moving again soon.

In Mexico, a convoy of SUVs with Elena in one stream into Joaquin’s estate. She smiles and calls to Joaquin. OMG! It’s Nicolas Trevino. That’s his new name. He tells her that her father is the only father he ever had so he’s fully committed to the revenge plan. They sit to have dinner together. He tells her that JR killed her father by robbing him of his dream and will to live. He tells her if the Ewings framed Barnes then they are criminals too. He says he’ll be staying in one of Cliff’s penthouses until they are done. He shows her his necklace and says he got it the day she brought him home and the Ramos family adopted him. He promises her they will have justice.

THE END
