It’s summer in Blue Bell. Girls are out jogging, a kids is delivering newspapers on his bike. Zoey is trying to cook breakfast in Lavon’s kitchen when Wade comes in. She says it’s a beautiful day and he asks for Lavon. She says she sent him to the Butter Stick so she could kick him breakfast. She offers him a plate of grits and eggs and Wade says he’s afraid. He tastes and says it’s edible. She asks if he wants to go see RoboCop at the library with her later. He asks if RoboCop is her move.

She says she’s serious about proving to him that they belong together. He says he’ll pass and tells her that her grits are not. She tastes and has to spit them out. He tells her nice try and leaves. Annabeth wakes Cricket who’s sleeping on her couch and tells her she needs to get out of the house and stop hiding. Cricket says she can’t face anyone but AB tells her she’s brave for coming out like she did. She says the timing could have been better and they both agree it was bad for Stanley.

AB says they are going to turn over new leaves together and conquer the world. Cricket says she can conquer tomorrow but wants to finish the other two seasons of The L Word and says it’s educational. Both Lavon and George rant separately to Wade about how the other one is focused on Lemon. Lavon says George has had long enough and they both says she’s the one for him. Wade asks them to talk to each other instead of him but they refuse.

Meatball comes in and saves Wade from them. Meatball thanks him for letting him crash with him since Lilly Ann has crushed his pad. AB and Wanda tell Zoey she makes to make a big gesture to get Wade to love her. Tom has gathered a bunch of the community to help them form a volunteer fire department. Jaycene Charles is there to train them up. She takes a drill sergeant approach with them and says they have eight weeks.

The volunteers complains and ask annoying questions. She tries to rile them up but it doesn’t look good. She pairs them up and then puts Lavon with George but they refuse. Tom says they are best friends and it’s no problem. Later, Cricket tells AB, Zoey and Wanda she resents being dragged into their heterosexual tomfoolery. They’re with her to help Zoey serenade Wade with some karaoke. She’s singing pretty badly doing Walk the Line. The other ladies sing back up.

Meatball comes out shirtless in his boxers and says he always knew Zoey had a thing for him. She says this is not how it went down for John Cusack in Say Anything. She’s more than a little disappointed. Wade catches up to Zoey and says Meatball asked him for his blessing. She asks what he said and he says he told him he hoped they’d be happy together. She asks if the song would have worked on him and he laughs. She says no man is immune to all of her but he says he’s been thoroughly inoculated.

Brick complains about Zoey being late then ducks and hides when he sees his mom. AB forces him to face her and she says she’s happy now that Lemon is on an ocean cruise with eligible bachelors and tells his she’s ready to work on his love life. She says Thelma O’Donnell is the woman for him and he says no. She says she’ll find someone for him even if she has to postpone her trip to Europe. He caves and says he’ll have dinner with the woman.

The volunteer firefighters are trying to get in their gear and it’s going badly. George screams out the he finished first and Jaycene checks him out and says his shoes are on the wrong feet and Lavon laughs until she says he forgot to fasten his helmet. They argue as Zoey comes up and she says she needs their help getting Wade back. George and Lavon both laugh at the idea of her singing to Wade. Lavon says Wade is not Kate Hudson. She asks what men like and they both agrees it’s sex. She says she was looking for a bigger gesture but they tell her sex is the way to go.

Earl shows up to see Wade and says he’s five and a half weeks sober and his first date with Mae tonight. He says he came to see him about Zoey. Wade says he and Zoey are like dynamite and not in a good way. Zoey pops up out of the pond in a bikini all wet and sexy. She tosses her hair around and smiles at Wade. He checks her out and she says hi. She asks why he’s there and he says it’s his house. She says the water is great. He tells her she’s usually worried about snakes and leeches but she says not today.

She swims away and Earl can’t stop staring. Wade says kablang – like dynamite. Brick funds his mom up sleepless and she says she has a strange foreboding feeling. He says it’s weird like that and must be the full moon. A car rolls up in the driveway. She asks about his date with Thelma and he says she gives him the creeps but agrees he needs to get on the horse. Red high heels walk up the drive. She agrees that Thelma’s underbite as a challenge. He agrees to be more sensible. The door bell rings.

It’s Shelby and he asks what. She says she rented a weekend house in town because she realizes she loves him and wants him back. He begs her to come back tomorrow and she blows him a kiss and goes. Brick tells his mom it was nothing and she needs to pack. Wade is playing his guitar shirtless when Zoe comes in. He asks what’s going on. She sets down a cold six pack and says she’s there to seduce him. She says she wanted him to know what was happening. He tells her it’s going to be hard to resist.

He tells her that sex doesn’t lead to anything else. She pops off her top and says they’ll have to see about that. He pulls her down for a kiss. Next morning, she says it was just like a bicycle. He says it was nothing like riding a bicycle. She says it felt right and they’re connected. He tells her to stop talking and kisses her. She asks to get breakfast and won’t relent. He says we can go to Lavon’s, get food then come back and finish it. She says she has to go to work now.

She asks if they can get dinner and then have a replay. Wade tells her he already told her this was just sex. She says that sounds familiar and he asks what that means. The volunteer firefighters are a hot mess. Lavon throws water on George and they argue. The poor Dalmatian watches them with confusion. Lavon and George are all in each other’s way and Jaycene says they are the worst she’s ever seen.

Zoey comes to work and tells Brick it’s a great day. She tells him she and Wade had amazing sex like that and he says he doesn’t want to hear that. Brick tells her there is no relation between a man’s genitals and his heart but his mom is there and tells her that a man loves you or doesn’t and giving away the milk for free has nothing to do with it. Cricket comes to the Belles meeting and they pepper her with questions about her new life as a lesbian.

AB asks her to share with the group. Cricket says she’s known since college and says there was a girl Donna Lynn that she was with. She says the realization was life changing. She says she thought she and Stanley could be secretly gay together but it turns out he’s not gay at all. The ladies talk about who they can set Cricket up with. Tom chews out Lavon and George and says they are as useful as two steering wheels on a mule. He tells them to work it out.

They agree but George says when Lemon is back he’s going after him. Lavon says she’ll choose him but George says the same. Lemon shows up and her grandma is surprised. She says she fell in love with the ship doctor and introduces Dr Henry Dalton. George and Lavon overhear and are floored. Brick tries to get his mom to leave for her trip but she says she has to stay and make sure Lemon doesn’t let him slip away.

Zoey waits for Wade and tells him she’s not there for another round. She says she knows what she knows and that’s they love each other. She asks him to admit it. He says he does love her but the last time they did this, it damned near killed him and he hated himself for hurting her. He says he tried to be a better man but she still left and it slayed him. Then he says he was coming around and recovering she came back with another boyfriend.

She says he hurt her too but she saw that he changed and forgave him. He says he knows it’s not fair but she wrecked his heart and he can’t do this again. She asks what if she promised not to hurt him. Wade says that he doesn’t trust that she knows how to stop herself. She says okay then and walks away. Wade looks like he’s hurt himself.

Eight weeks later. The volunteer firefighters are a well oiled machine. Wanda is nice and round with her pregnancy. Lavon and George are a firefighting dynamic duo. The whole town watches. Jaycene says they’re really coming together and showing team work. Zoey finds Wade working outside. He says he hasn’t seen her in a while. She says hi nervously and then says she has no hot water and asks if he can look at it. He agrees then asks if that’s it.

He asks if they can talk and she asks what he wants her to say. She says him not trusting her is insurmountable. She goes into her place and he calls out that he’ll fix her hot water. Lavon and George are at Rammer Jammer and are annoyed listening to Lemon gush over her new doctor BF. Neither can believe he’s lasted that long. Her grandma asks to hear the story again about Henry. Lemon says she’s tired and Henry comments that she’s been tired for weeks. He offers to give her an exam.

Brick insists he’s the town doctor and will do it himself but then runs out when he sees Shelby. He reminds her his family hates her and she lives somewhere else. She says she’s going to prove to him they belong together. He agrees to see her tonight and she kisses him. Henry kisses Lemon’s grandma goodbye and Lavon and George roll their eyes at all of Henry’s antics and heroics.

George says no one is that perfect and says they should dig into his past. Wade comes over and tells them to leave her be and let her be happy. He says Henry showing up saved their friendship since they don’t have to compete over her. Cricket tells AB she got the Belle’s list of available women in the area. AB finds Zoey eating takeout outside and says Wade has made it so she can’t eat anywhere.

Cricket says she’s got problems too and says she’s the only lesbian in the state under 40. Earl and Mae comes by and ask her for a double date with she and Wade. She says it won’t happen and leaves. Lemon has to see Zoey since Brick is running late. Zoey asks for her symptoms and then Lemon asks about her and Wade. Zoey says she tried but he keeps pushing her away.

Lemon tells her that Wade is just scared and Zoey says maybe. She tells Lemon that Henry seems incredible. Lemon tries to downplay Henry’s heroics. Brick comes in whistling and AB asks what’s up. Lemon fusses at Brick for missing their appointment and he says she’s in good hands with Zoey. Lemon asks AB what’s up with her dad and then orders her to investigate. Ab tells Zoey after Lemon leaves that she thinks Brick has a secret lover.

AB says Brick didn’t even care about Lemon and she could be pregnant for all he knows. Zoey gets a strange look and says she’s going to go run a few more tests. Wade gets a call from Earl about falling in a hole again. Earl also calls Zoey and says he’s in the hole. They find Mae and Earl at the house and he’s not in the hole. Zoey tells Wade they’ve been reverse parent trapped. They pour wine and make the young people sit down to talk over dinner.

Wade says they really went all out for this. Wade says at least it gives them a chance to talk. Zoey says she’s racked her brain trying to figure out how he can trust her but says it’s impossible if he won’t give her a chance. She says she wants him to knock on her door and say he wants to give them a chance. She says she knows it’s pathetic but it’s what she wants. She tells Earl she’s not hungry and leaves. Wade is not happy.

Frank comes and tells Lavon and George he dug into Henry’s background. They try to hush him and he says Henry is perfect in every way and a real hero. George and Lavon rant to each other because they each went secretly to Frank. They ask him who came to him first but then they just get made and both leave. Shelby tells Brick she knows the obstacles but says she has never loved anyone like she loves him. Brick says he can’t resist her and she asks if they can be a couple again.

He says yes but asks her to wait until his mother leaves or else she never will. She agrees to wait two more days. Earl tells Wade this didn’t go quite like he hoped. Wade says the two of them just don’t work. Earl says he knows Wade is afraid of getting hurt. He says after Wade’s mom died, he hid in a bottle for 20 years and says it’s not a good way to act. He says even if Mae crushes his heart, it will all be worth it. He tells Wade to take a chance on love and not be like him.

Zoey comes to work the next morning and AB tells her what her schedule is like and that Lemon’s tests came back. Zoey checks them and says OMG. She asks her to reschedule her appointments and says she forgot something important. AB “accidentally” lets her pencil pop open Lemon’s folder and reads her test results. She says – butter my biscuit.

At the volunteer firefighter finals, Jaycene gets asked out on a date and she says she has her eye on someone else. George and Lavon are arguing and asks Big Tom and Little Zach to cut it out. This erupts into a firehouse water fight and Jaycene says they are done for next year. Cricket comes up and then Jaycene asks her out. Cricket smiles and says she’d love to. Aww. Sweet Southern lesbian love.

Wade shows up to Zoey’s door. She asks why he’s there and he asks her to dinner. She asks if it’s a joke and he says no and that he’s sorry he waited so long. She says no. She says he was right about them not working out. She says it’s too late and shuts the door in his face. AB shows up to see Lemon with prenatal vitamins and congratulates her. Lemon says she’s not pregnant she has a virus. Lemon says she’s not because she and Henry haven’t had sex yet.

She says it’s a ruse with Henry to placate their demanding grandmothers. AB says there is no such thing as a false positive on a pregnancy test. Lemon says the test isn’t hers and AB asks whose it is. Zoey lies in bed saying – oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. Holy cow! Zoey is knocked up and we know Wade is the baby daddy! Love!!

THE END!
