Honey Boo Boo, a.k.a. Alana Thompson a.k.a. the child from that ridiculous reality show, is in hot water for slapping her mother while taping Jimmy Fallon. Yeah, Honey Boo Boo actually whacked her mother, Mama June, across the face while filming the show. Apparently, Honey Boo Boo’s fans [she has fans?] are upset at her displaying such spoiled behavior, but seriously, what do these people expect? Honey Boo Boo is the definition of a spoiled child, and now that she’s used to getting whatever she wants [including all that money from the show], of course she’s going to act like a spoiled brat.
Fans are taking to the Internet to complain about Honey Boo Boo’s behavior, writing on the social media, “Just watched #honeybooboo on @jimmyfallon, the child is so rude. Felt sorry for Jimmy. Did a good job keeping his cool. #cancelhoneybooboo.” Another fan wrote, “@HoneyBooBoo needs [to be] taken off the air, world’s dumbest show!”
Well, I ain’t disagreeing with that. And I agree that Jimmy definitely handled the situation as best as he could. However, I can’t help but wonder if the ‘slap’ was just an elaborate media stunt to increase interest in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, especially with the competitive nature of reality television these days. Most of these shows keep getting displayed by newer shows coming in every season, especially as people are starting to tire of reality shows faster. We already know that reality stars are well versed in faking drama, and Jimmy Fallon’s an actor, so why wouldn’t they take advantage of this to create a wide-reaching controversy? Jimmy gets higher ratings, and Honey Boo Boo gets attention – and also increased publicity for her show. Win-win.
