Tonight on E! House of DVF continues with a whole new Sunday December 14, season 1 episode 7 episode called, “All’s Fair in War and Fashion,” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s show, the stakes are high when the hopefuls are given the challenge of styling themselves for a photo shoot and interview with InStyle magazine.
On the last episode, the candidates had rush to the Hamptons, where they were given the task of styling celebrities and VIPs. On tonight’s episode as per the E! synopsis, “The stakes are high when the hopefuls are given the challenge of styling themselves for a photo shoot and interview with InStyle magazine. Later, Diane reveals the candidates’ wrap dress designs, but not before eliminating another contestant.”

In Southampton, at her house, Diane waits for Brittany. Diane says Brittany puzzles her because she’s always spot on in front of her but then is ugly to Jessica. They talk and Diane says they haven’t spent a lot of time together. She asks Brittany if she’s a nice person and says her staff isn’t sure. She says Jessica and Stefani find her condescending. She asks what her dark side is that she’s not seeing. Brittany says she let her pride speak up for itself. She says when she feels attacked she goes on the offensive. Brittany tears up and says she has a hard time being vulnerable.
Brittany says her walls being up does make her seem bitchy but she’s working on it. Brittany says fashion got her through a crisis and Diane says she has to make a change. Diane says she has to get Brittany to forget her bad attitude. Diane says she’s not sending her home today and Brittany says she can change and won’t let her down. Diane sends her off with a hug. Lenore and Amanda worry what Brittany’s fate is but then she comes out.
She tells them she’s obviously not going home but doesn’t want to tell them what she and Diane talked about. She asks if they thought she was going home. She says it was just a get to know you tea but the others thinks she’s on her high horse and lying again. Brittany tells them they are all being shot for InStyle magazine today. She says they are each getting a little profile on them. Kier says that’s her favorite mag and she can’t believe it. Lenore is shaking she’s so excited.
They head out. Back at DVF, Dana and Jessica can’t believe Diane got the girls a shot at InStyle and say they hope the girls don’t make a mess of it. Jessica says they get to pick out a DVF look for their interview. She says this will show how well they know the brand. They each try on clothes and Jessica says Lenore looks like she’s dressed for a bar mitzvah. They critique Lenore’s look and Kier can’t believe that Lenore has no attention to detail. Jessica doesn’t like Lenore’s look and says it doesn’t work.
She tells the others that they are done and can go to make up. Jessica tells her to stop faffing around and says they’re pressed for time. She asks if this is a joke to her. Jessica says she’s wearing a clown outfit and none of the elements go together. Lenore goes to change again. The girls get their hair and make up done and Dana talks to photographer Morgan about the type of shots they want. He shoots Brittany first and says she did really well. Kier is nervous to follow her. She’s posing stiffly and Morgan says they need to get her to relax.
Jessica says watching Kier in front of the camera is really appalling. Amanda has flash tats on and the photographer isn’t happy. Kier can’t believe she didn’t wash them off. Lenore is posing and Jessica gives her some notes on how to hold her hands and mouth. Jessica tells her to loosen up and says Lenore seems overwhelmed. They try to get her to relax. Amanda says she feels bad for Lenore who is nervous. Diane comes in then which makes it worse.
Morgan coaches her and tells her to look right into the camera. Diane looks at the other shots on the laptop and Kier says Lenore looks like she’s freaking. Diane says she can see that Lenore is just not comfortable and doesn’t have the experience to handle this. The interviews start next. Amanda is excited about her first interview. Violet, the InStyle style editor, talks to them. They asks Amanda what she thinks about the Fall campaign versus the past.
Amanda is pretty much clueless and has to ask the other girls what it’s about. She is totally flummoxed and says she doesn’t know how to answer the question. Then Diane comes in to check on them. She wants to watch this go on and says as brand ambassador, she has to know they can do this right. Violet asks Brittany who she’s thankful for and she talks about her grandmother who was a designer. Then Kier says she thinks she can learn so much from her and Diane asks if she’s learned she doesn’t have to be a bitch.
Violet asks about Lenore’s background and she talks about growing up working in a bakery. It has nothing to do with fashion. Violet asks how fashion fits for her. Lenore says she has more to learn and travel and says she’s a caged animal ready to come out. Diane says that Lenore is really struggling with the styling, modeling and interviewing. The girls leave and Violet says Lenore’s lack of fashion experience surprised her and really made her stand out negatively.
Diane says she’s not polished enough and Violet agrees. Amanda tells the others she can’t believe how dumb she was and couldn’t answer. Violet tells Diane that Amanda is young and her youth comes through. Diane thanks her for her time and says Violet’s opinion is important but it’s Diane’s decision. Diane tells the girls she still doesn’t know who’s going to win. She tells Lenore to meet her at her car in five minutes and Lenore is worried about that meeting.
Amanda reassures her and says she probably just wants to get to know her better but Lenore is scared. She meets Diane at her car and she asks her to get in and ride with her. Lenore really wants the job and is terrified right now. Diane tells her she’s an amazing salesperson and has a lot of enthusiasm. She tells her she has more to learn and says they’re going to have to let her go. Lenore cries and Diane takes her hand. Later, Lenore says she’s been through a lot the past few years and it’s surreal that she’s there.
She cries and Diane tells her it’s good, she’s come a long way and says everyone lover her. Lenore says she loves her brand and doesn’t want to work for another brand. Diane says there may be another solution and says she’s going to arrange a meeting with her head of sales to get her a job in home sales. Lenore thanks her and says that means she’s going home a winner. Lenore says she wants to work with DVF for the rest of her life. Diane says it’s been nice watching Lenore grow and says she has potential.
She tells Lenore she loves her and that the car will take her where she wants. Diane gets out at her event and leaves her with the driver. Lenore says being there has been life changing and says she won’t forget a moment of it. Lenore calls her mom and says she was sent home. She tells her mom she’s okay because she’s getting a job interview. Lenore texts the girls and asks them to meet her. Amanda is worried by the text since they’re besties.
The car pulls up and they see she’s still in Diane’s car. They see that she’s smiling. She gets out and they see that she has the DVF bag that means she’s going home. Kier says she’s going to miss Lenore’s positive energy. Amanda says she’s sad Lenore is going home but that means she’s one step closer to winning the job for herself.
Brittany and Amanda look at their photos and Amanda tells them she’s studying up on the collections and on Daria the model. Brittany thinks she’s an idiot and asks Amanda why she’s in the program when she doesn’t seem to care about the line. She asks Amanda what she offers and Amanda says she can act professional. Amanda thinks the other two have more experience but that the other girls have big issues too. She thinks Brittany is mean and that Kier is just a blogger.
Brittany pretty much says Amanda has skated through. She thinks they’re bullying her and says she’s not listening to them. She says she has to prove herself to Diane not to Kier and Brittany. The women show up and Stefani tells them their two wrap dresses have been chosen by Diane to be pitched to Nordstrom tomorrow at the buying team meeting. Stefani says it’s a huge opportunity. Two models come out wearing the designs and the girls are amazed.
Stefani says her job today is to teach them the art of the sale to deal with a buyer in the showroom. She tells Brittany and Amanda to sell them. Amanda fails to introduce herself and Stefani makes her start over. Then she tells her that her posture is off and she looks confused. She tells her to act like she has credibility but be open and smiles. Stefani says this feels like charm school. Stefani says Brittany did better but says their pitches need work.
Stefani tells Brittany that she’s giving off negative energy. Brittany is upset because she thought she was smiling. Kier is up next and stumbles. She doesn’t know the fabrics or the proper description of the outfit. Stefani says she has a lot of studying to do. Jessica comes over and pulls Amanda out to talk to her. Brittany and Kier wonder what this is about. Kier says she hopes Amanda is getting fired right now. Amanda is nervous because she’s been screwing up a lot.
Jessica tells her she feels like she’s retreating and is asserting herself less. She says Kier and Brittany are really throwing themselves into this and says she’s not sure Amanda really wants this. Amanda talks up her experience and education. Jessica says she never asserts that part of herself. She tells Amanda she wants DVF to see that side of her and tells her to really go for it. She tells Amanda she’s been her favorite and wants her to win. Amanda says this pep talks is really what she needed.
Diane is downstairs and Jessica sees supermodel Jessica Hart there. Jessica decides to try and give Amanda a leg up and sends her to get the dress. Jessica tells Amanda to describe the dress to the model. She talks it up and Diane listens attentively to what she’s saying. Diane says her description was nicely done. Jessica comes out and says she’s right – it did have a French Riviera feel. Jessica is very proud of how Amanda handled that and hopes she keeps it up.
Brittany and Kier are elsewhere and are hoping Amanda is doing badly and is getting fired. They trash talk her. Kier says she could handle losing to Brittany but would kill herself if she lost to Amanda. Then Amanda shows up and says she got to show the romper to a supermodel who is going to wear it in a show. Kier tells Amanda that she doesn’t want to lose to her the way she’s performing now. Then they tell her that they thought that she was being sent home.
Brittany wants to unload on her but remembers what Diane said to her about being nicer. Amanda tells them she has nothing to prove to them since they’re all on the same level. She says she’s tired of their bullying. Diane talks to the buyers about the two wrap dresses and says she’s being audacious by having the girls pitch to Nordstrom. The girls come in and introduce themselves. Diane says dealing with a big buyer is about knowing what you’re selling and how to act.
Kier tells them she’s from Seattle and shops at Nordstrom’s original shops all the time. She demonstrates the romper and explains the fabric. Diane says Kier looked good with little makeup and a loose shirt dress. She says she did an amazing job. Amanda then talks about the dress and says it’s versatile. Brittany explains the construction then shows how the insets worked. Diane says she was impressed with all three girls. She says they all had a good pitch.
The buyers tell them they did a good job on the pitches and they opt for the dress over the romper. Brittany is so excited. Diane says they did the dress in black for the holidays and she brings out the model in a black and white number in the same style. The buyer says she wants it in all their stores – all 118. Diane is pleased. Brittany is so excited she runs out. Amanda goes to get her. Brittany comes back in and they see she’s crying.
Brittany says she’s always wanted to design and then the buyers tear up too. Diane tells Amanda and Brittany they made the sale. Later, Diane sits down with all three girls and says they all did a great job. She says they have come along way since they first came. She says each of them could be a brand ambassador but must decide who’s the best. Diane says she’s not sure how to make the decision and asks them to help her.
She asks Amanda why her over Brittany. Amanda says Brittany is great but it comes down to when you’re representing the brand, everyone is watching and says Brittany was sassing Jessica. Amanda says she would never do that. Diane asks Amanda why her and not Kier. Amanda says that Kier’s move can turn on a dime and she can have these mood swings and just snap. Kier says she’s far from home and in a competition but Diane says she’ll be under pressure.
Amanda tells Kier when she’s hungry, she thinks she might kill her. Brittany tells Diane that she’s taken note of her feedback. Kier tells her she’s done really well on many tasks and that Diane has said that. Amanda asks Kier what she’s done in the fashion industry and tells Kier she’s several years younger than her and has much more experience. She says anyone can do the blog. Kier says she’s already a brand ambassador and Amanda says she can start a blog tomorrow.
Diane says they’re getting petty and says she can tell they all really want it. She says they are back at square one because the more she talks to them, the less she knows who she should choose.
