Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy are dating and clearly playing up their DWTS relationship for the cameras, but it’s becoming pretty obvious that they really are dating – whether it’s for publicity or whether it’s genuine is up for debate. Their main goal is obviously to win over audiences and get that elusive Mirror Ball trophy at the end of Dancing with the Stars, but perhaps they actually like each other. Knowing the history of DWTS showmances, we’re going with the former option.
Of course, Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy are currently odds-on fan favorites to win the competition, and they know that their PDA is only helping matters. Plus, Janel broke up with her longtime boyfriend, Payson Lewis, and things have only been growing stronger between her and Val in the meantime. Or at least, they’re pretending that things are growing stronger. Val and Janel know how the game is played, and they keep uploading lovey-dovey pictures of themselves to Instagram and Twitter. They know exactly what their fans are looking for, and they damn well know how to deliver. However, they’ll have to start giving fans a little extra if they want to sustain this showmance. Will it be public kissing next? Instagram dates? Whatever it is, it’s gotta ride them all the way through the end of this season. So far, they’re coasting by on fan favoritism and the are-they-or-aren’t-they question of their relationship. They’re keeping every guessing, but the Val Chmerkovskiy/Janel Parrish relationship question will only longer for so long before the public moves on to another couple.
