Johnny Weir and Husband Victor Voronov Divorce After Domestic Violence

If you tuned in to watch any of the figure skating competition during the recent Olympic Games in Sochi then you are probably familiar with Johnny Weir. He and fellow commentator, Tara Lipinski really gained quite a following not just for their knowledge of the sport but because they were ridiculously fun to watch. While Johnny came across as the happiest guy on earth the truth is there was serious trouble brewing back home. Johnny married a Russian attorney named Victor Voronov back in Dec. 2011 and the two were know to have a bit of a tempestuous relationship.

About a month before Johnny left for Sochi there was a domestic dispute and police were called to the New Jersey home that he and Voronov shared. At the time Johnny was accused of biting his husband three times but by the couple showed up in court just a few weeks ago they convinced the judge to dismiss the whole thing.

Now it sounds like this incident probably played a role in the demise of Johnny’s marriage. The 3-time U.S. Mens skating champion announced today via his Twitter account that he and Voronov are no longer together. At one point in time Johnny had mentioned returning to skating but not letting it get in the way of making dinner and washing his husband’s boxers. I have to wonder, now that Johnny is totally in demand and has barely been home at all in the last 6 weeks, if that also played a part in his marriage busting up. Do you think that Voronov wanted Johnny at home taking care of the house while he was the main bread winner? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
