Germaine Greer: Kate Middleton 'Too Thin' - No More Kids' and 'In Charge' of Prince William says Iconic Feminist

Feminist Germaine Greer has some interesting thoughts about the royal family – or more specifically, Kate Middleton and Prince William. Greer claims that Kate has been put ‘in charge’ of William, largely because she’s so much more ‘intelligent’ than most royals. Except if there’s anything we know about the royal family, it’s that they would never allow the royal wives to be ‘in charge’ of anything, much less their royal husbands. Even better  is this from Germaine Greer: “The girl is too thin. I would hope after this one she says, ‘That’s it. No more.” So Ms. Greer has decided in her know-it-all arrogance that Kate Middleton should not have any more children and is too thin! How disgustingly doctrinaire of the academic to impose her narrow radical worldview on the princess – no more kids!! Maybe Kate likes being thin and having 6 kids? Is that anyone’s business but Kate’s?

In fact, royals wives are actually expected to take pretty subservient roles in relation to their husbands. If anything, it’s norm for the husbands to be put ‘in charge’ of the wives, but Greer claims that Kate’s upbringing and know-how have enabled her to take charge of this new position.

Of course, Greer also goes into the negative side effects of being a royal wife, one of which is that you’re constantly forced to birth out baby after baby after baby. Seriously, Kate is puking her guts out right now, and it’s all because the royals wanted a ‘spare’. Unfair much?

I will say that Prince William doesn’t seem the type to honor archaic stereotypes, so I can totally believe that he’s willing to sacrifice his own personal ego to have Kate ‘in charge’. But I also agree with Greer’s comments on how the royals are clearly imposing certain rules and restrictions regarding Kate Middleton’s actions. She can’t decorate her own house, she can’t wear what she wants to wear, she needs to be careful about associating with certain people – there’s a laundry list of dos and don’ts regarding life with the royals, and Kate Middleton doesn’t have free choice when it comes to that.

She may think it’s worth it to be a royal, but would any of you guys be willing to give up this much personal freedom for the sake of the crown? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
