Kristen Stewart has started getting on my very last nerve. Seriously. In a new interview with Loaded, Kristen Stewart claims that she’s extremely ‘sensitive’ and wants to work with Martin Scorsese. But before she goes in that direction, she claims that the reason actors are so narcissistic and self-obsessed is for the sake of ‘art’. That’s right, all that douchey behavior from actors? All down to the ‘art’, you guys.
She says, “It’s like any kind of art. It’s not being an actor and being famous. If you’re not putting something back in, you’re not going to have any more to put out. So actors focus so much on themselves and what they’re doing and choosing their thing.”
Jeez. This girl’s delusions are starting to reach reality show levels. Yes, she headlines a major blockbuster franchise and yes, she starred in several well-acclaimed indie films. But when actors are jerks, they’re jerks – whatever ‘professional’ reason they give is full of BS, and it’s just that: an excuse. Everybody has long days and they don’t get to claim that their work is done in the service of ‘art’.
Kristen continues yammering on about art and commerce and insecurity in the same interview, but the other gem of a quote doesn’t come until the end, when she says, “I think when you do them right [blockbusters], they’re incredible. I grew up on them. I want to work with [Martin] Scorsese, I want to make big movies.”
Uh-huh. I would hardly consider Martin Scorsese the premier filmmaker for blockbuster films, but this is yet another transparent apparent to land some major industry cred. Kristen Stewart totally knows what she’s doing, you guys. She knows playing up the vulnerable card will land her some attention in the long run, and talking about Martin Scorsese will only get her more publicity – whether from the wrong directors/writers or the right directors/writers, we’ll have to wait and see.
