It has been nearly a week since Robin Williams committed suicide and his death is still one of the main things that everyone is discussing everywhere. In between Hamas, Iraq and the state of emergency in Missouri there is deep sadness over Robin’s unexpected death. While the actor obviously had a very full and successful career his love life was a bit more checkered. While he had married three times it seems pretty clear that Robin William’s second wife, Marsha Garces was as close to a soul mate as Robin could ever have had.
Eventually his addictions lead to other vices that unraveled their almost 20-year union, but that love never died, it just became impossible for the couple to have a healthy relationship. Marsha’s statement regarding Robin’s suicide says everything, really:
“My heart is split wide open and scattered over the planet with all of you. Please remember the gentle, loving, generous – and yes, brilliant and funny – man that was Robin Williams. My arms are wrapped around our children as we attempt to grapple with celebrating the man we love, while dealing with this immeasurable loss.”
This woman is grieving, deeply, just like her children, Cody Alan, and Zelda Rae, along with Zachary ‘Zak’ Pym, Robin and first wife, Valerie Velardi’s son. Sure, Susan Schneider has issued several statements and is likely devastated by the loss of her husband. Susan is probably also over-thinking every move that she did or did not make last weekend that could possibly have resulted in Robin still being alive – but Marsha was still always in his heart. Even after divorcing Robin’s voice would soften when mentioning her. They shared a life, children and often times, they shared work projects. They connected on all levels and in ways that probably no one else in either of their lives could fully compete with.
