According to the National Enquirer, The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus is embroiled in a bitter feud with his TWD co-stars. Apparently, Norman is trying to ‘steal the spotlight’, which is supposedly pissing off the other actors and making them jealous.
A ‘source’ tells the Enquirer, “It’s especially annoying to Andrew Lincoln, who, as sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes, is supposed to be the drama’s main focus. From Day One, Norman has been the world’s biggest self-promoter while the rest of the cast seemed content to let their work speak for them. But they’re jealous of the fame Norman has created for himself. They feel like second fiddles and barely give him the time of day.”
Alright, let’s take it from the top. First things first – Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus are pretty much like long lost BFFs, and they act like it both on set and off set. So unless they’re the world’s best actors, I don’t see how it’s all been pretend, from either end. Second, Lincoln hates being in the spotlight, and he’s a notoriously private actor that would prefer to stay out of the press – I doubt he has any problem with Norman hogging the attention.
Lastly, I would definitely NOT call Norman the ‘world’s biggest self-promoter’ when he’s gone out of his way to promote the show around the world, and earning TWD thousands of new fans along the way. Whenever he does travel and promote the show, he always discusses the show first and his personal life later, preferring to put the emphasis on his work.
Sure, Norman’s fame probably has a few of the supporting cast members a little jealous, especially since his character started out as a supporting character in the first season and has now become the bona fide lead, apart from Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. But even then, I feel like this report was written more to capitalize on the return of the Walking Dead this Sunday than based on actual truth – the timing is too coincidental.
