Popular singer Paul Simon was reportedly arrested this past weekend in Connecticut after a domestic incident with his wife, Edie Brickell. Apparently, the 72-year-old singer and his 42-year-old wife started fighting in their home in Connecticut on Saturday night. One thing led to another, and then the cops were getting called to their home.
Apparently, both Edie and Paul got arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, so it’s likely that there was some stuff getting thrown around. However, it doesn’t look like either of them were seriously injured, as no domestic violence charges were officially filed.
The couple’s been married since 1992 and have largely managed to stay off the media radar. Surprising, considering that they’ve been dragged into the spotlight for fighting, which probably means it wasn’t the first time they’ve gone at it in their home. The couple also has three children, but there’s no official word on whether any of the kids were home or witnessed the argument.
Radar Online reports that the police were actually called, which means that one of the neighbors probably called the cops after the noise became unbearable. Granted, there is a thirty-year age difference between Paul and his wife, so arguments are inevitable. Arguments between any couple are inevitable, but an aging singer and his much-younger wife? I don’t want to stereotype here, but they’re doing it for me. Having public fights and throwing things around is the epitome of aging rock star syndrome, so let’s just hope that Edie and Paul can sort out their issues before their fights descend into anything worse.
