Prince Harry recently addressed his controversial naked Las Vegas scandal in an interview, as part of his Man of The World photoshoot. However, his comments aren’t particularly illuminating about what led to the incident, especially as he more or less blames the army for his actions.
Harry explained, “It was probably a classic case of me being too much army and not enough prince. It’s a simple case of that.” Um.. ok. I’m confused, do army people get to run around naked with girls in Las Vegas hotel suites without any sort of ramifications? I suppose it’s allowed, so long as they do their duty. Still, the whole thing about ‘not enough prince’ has been a constant criticism with Prince Harry. While he’s gotten his act together recently, he did spend an alarming amount of his youth rebelling against his royal heritage, even as Prince William tried his best to be the upstanding role model and royal citizen. However, William’s perfect-ness only stood in even further contrast to Prince Harry’s rebelliousness, and it was the Vegas incident that finally topped everything off.
However, there’s also the fact that Harry was CAUGHT, which is something Prince William never faced. Maybe that’s what Harry meant when he said that it was ‘too much army’. Royals can do whatever they want, but they can’t get caught doing it. Honestly, I still don’t think his statement makes much sense, but I think what Harry meant to say was that he was more used to a relaxed mindset about partying and women thanks to his buddies in the army. He didn’t realize that he was a royal first, everything else second – and that came back to bite him in the ass.
