Rosie O’Donnell was asked back onto the View next week. This will be the first time she has appeared on the show since her abrupt departure way back in 2007. Although, don’t worry she’s not going to be sitting at the round table for long. Our favorite opinionated loudmouth will not be returning as one of the ladies on the panel. Whatever you may think, you can’t say Barbara doesn’t learn from her mistakes! This time Barbara Walters is playing it safe by only having Rosie as a guest on the show.
“I have great affection for Rosie and we have remained in contact through the years,” executive producer Barbara Walters tells E! News in a statement. “I am happy to welcome her back to the program. She is always a lively and engaging guest and a part of the show’s successful history.”
You see! Isn’t nice that let bygones be bygones. Barbara set Rosie up to look like a bully in the press and Rosie called her an instigator and yet somehow they claimed to still be friends. Sure, whatever you say. Also it probably doesn’t hurt that Elizabath Hasslebeck is gone from the show. Back when they were both moderators, she and Rosie were constantly going at it! It got to the point that no one felt Barbara handle the situation correctly. The View began to look like an episode of Maury.
However Elizabeth is no longer a problem and Jenny McCarthy is. The newest moderator hasn’t brought in the viewership Barbara was hoping. So having Rosie back ready to go head to head with anyone available will surely help a dying brand out. But at what cost? Having Jenny on the show has already made it feel kind of cheap. Having Rosie there won’t stop that though. It might just push all the real fans away.
No one likes a desperate bid for ratings!
