In Springdale, Washington, a young girl dances to Christian music and takes selfies. She hears a noise downstairs but then decides not to check it out. She closes her door and locks it and resumes her picture taking. She looks at the pics she took and then sees a monster sneaking up behind her. She climbs into the closet and calls 911 to tell them someone is in her room. She’s terrified and can’t give her address. Turns out the killer was in the closet. He has a knife and we see blood gushing out the louvered doors of her closet. #thinman is tonight’s title.

Dean is heading out on a case and Sam asks if he can ride along. Dean tells him that he’s been all over the place lately and he didn’t know if he would want to come along. He tells him to come on and shows him a crime scene photo and explains the doors and windows were locked. Sam packs his stuff and they head out but Dean doesn’t look happy to have him along.

They pull up to the girl’s house and the mom takes them up to crime scene. There’s still a large pool of blood there. They ask about her daughter Casey and then ask if there have been any flickering lights and she says no cold spots either. That catches their ears and they ask why she mentioned that. She says it’s been three days and that she can’t afford a private investigator so she had to accept the offer of the Supernaturalists. They ask who these people are and why they brought up cold spots. She says they’re coming back today. Dean asks their name.

We see the Ghostfacers van and Dean curses. Ed and Harry are in the diner and talking about an ex girlfriend when the Winchesters plop down. Dean tells them to climb into their mystery machine and leave town. Harry tells them they have it under control and Dean calls them fame whores. Sam tells them that they’re going to get someone else killed. Ed says they dropped their other sidekicks and it’s just them. Dean tells them the ghost will kill them in five seconds flat and Harry laughs and says it’s not a ghost. Dean threatens to shoot them and the Winchesters leave.

Sam checks out the Ghostfacers website and he shows them a book they wrote called the Skinny on Thinman. Sam says the photo from their book looks like the image on Casey’s camera. Sam reads the urban legend they write about that says the guy lurks in the background of the victim’s lives until he’s ready to take them out. Dean insists it’s a ghost but Sam is not so sure. Dean reminds him the veil is ow now and Sam says that’s more recent and the sightings have been going on for years. Dean won’t hear it and decides to check local deaths for who could have gone ghostie.

Ed and Harry film in Casey’s room and Ed chews Harry out for Facebook stalking his ex while they should be working. Harry says he’s ready and they start again. They are excited because they think they are on the cusp of catching Thinman. Ed is scared of the Winchesters really hurting them and is ready to bail. Harry tells them they can solve it and no one cares who the Winchesters are because they’re not even on Twitter. Harry says they are going to be on Dr Phi once they find thinman and they go back to recording. Ed closes the closet door and then comes out describing the night of Casey’s murder. Casey’s mom comes in with lemonade cutting off their inappropriate enthusiasm.

Dean isn’t having a lot of luck with local ghosts but Sam is finding more occasions of thinman photobombing. He says most of the photos, except Casey’s, look doctored. The brothers are flummoxed. Dean asks how the photo from her phone got online and Sam says it was posted in a thinman forum from a blocked IP. They head to the Sheriff’s office and are told the Sheriff is on a hunting trip. They look at Casey’s phone and see the photo was posted a couple of hours after her death. The desk cop says it could be supernatural and they realize the Ghostfacers have been there.

At a local diner, there’s a knock at the door after closing. The manager looks out and doesn’t see anyone and goes back to counting the till. The knocks comes again. He turns on the security camera access from his laptop and sees the guy behind him. Thinman strikes and kills! It looks like a guy with a wrinkled fleshy face with no eyes, mouth or nose!
[9:41:23 PM] Rachel Rowan: The Winchesters come into the diner and aren’t happy the Ghostfacers are already there. The sergeant tells them he’s happy to have a medium there to help and they ask for security camera footage. Dean tells Ed and Harry they need to go and they tell him they will bust him for being a fake FBI guy and he relents. Dean asks why they are posting photos and they tell him that the blogosphere wants to know about thinman. He demands to know who they think Thinman is and they say he’s part man, part tree, born of the nightmare of an autistic child. Dean is ready to choke them when they are called over to look at the footage. They see Thinman kill the manager. Harry and Ed take off while Dean watches the footage again looking for clues.

The Ghostfacers notice that the security footage from the diner was posted in the comments on their blog. Harry put son his ninja outfit so he can hunt down Thinman in the woods. Ed says they need to leave this in the Winchester’s hands. Harry tells him hell no and says they can’t quit when they are on the brink of finding Thinman and making their name. Ed says they should leave it to the professionals and Harry slaps on night vision goggles and tells him they are the processionals.

Sam and Dean think it might be a teleporting demon. Sam tells him the security footage is already online. Dean tells Sam that his shed jumping stunt as a kid would have been a great viral video. Dean reminds him he drove him to the ER on his handle bars. He calls it good times and takes a swig of beer and same agrees it was a good time. Ed comes in and says he has something to tell them and then the case is theirs.

We see Harry out alone with his camera heading into the woods. It’s actually near a park where there are a lot of people out and about. Ed tells the Winchesters that he made up Thinman to keep Harry interested in Ghostfacers and away from his crazy ex. We see Harry in the woods and Thinman is nearby! Ed tells them he did a lot of photoshopping and posted one but then it became a crowd sourced legend when other people started posting.

Sam tells him he needs to tell Harry and Ed says without Thinman they are nothing. Sam tells him that secrets ruin relationships and Dean looks at him askance. Ed says he’ll tell him later and then says Harry is out in the woods chasing it. They freak and tell Ed that Harry could be in real danger. He says he just put him out in woods behind the grocery store. We see Harry looking at sticks. He hears a noise, turns and turns back and sees the sticks have been moved. Then Thinman is right behind him as he says – we are not alone. Thinman stabs him once but he gets away just as the Winchesters pull up with Ed.

They patch up Harry and he says he’s good. He tells Ed that Thinman is real. Sam finds tire tracks and says it’s from whoever stabbed Ed who insists Thinman is real. Back at the hotel, Ed finally admits that he made up Thinman. Harry tells him he crashed the Jenga tower of their lives. He’s mad that he broke up with his girl to run off and chase Thinman. Harry tells him that his life would have been good and Ed says maybe he can get back with her. Harry says she has a new boyfriend and it’s over. Ed says they can keep Thinman going for the fans and Harry says it’s done and he’s done with Ghostfacers because he can’t trust him. (This is like an idiot parallel version of what went on with Dean and Sam)

Ed begs Harry to tell him what he needs to make it up to him. He offers to go on a coffee run while Harry chills. He leaves. Sam waits outside and asks how it went. Ed walks away dejected. Sam goes in to talk to Harry. He asks if he’s okay and Harry says he’s devastated. He tells Sam that none of it was real and that he just can’t get past it. Sam says he knows what he means and says some things aren’t forgivable. Harry asks if that’s what this is and Sam says he has to decide for himself. Dean comes in then and says they have a lead on the tire treads – it’s an 89 Geo Metro and there’s only one guy in town with that vehicle. It’s a guy named Roger who works night security at the mill. Sam isn’t sure how it could teleport and hold down a job.

Ed listens around the corner and then goes into their room. Harry tells him that the Winchesters are cleaning up their mess and Ed says he can help them. He says he wants to go back to what Ghostfacers was about – helping people. Ed says he can make it right. Harry relents and says they can make it right together. Ed is thrilled he’s willing to help.

The Winchesters pull up to the mill and meet the deputy sheriff whose freaking out because they don’t have a warrant and the sheriff is out of town. They tell him to stay back and let them take care of it. They pick a lock and head into a shed at the mill and then go down in a heap because the deputy double tazed them! He says he always wanted to use those things…

The Winchesters come to tied up and find the deputy humming to himself. They ask if he’s Thinman and say he doesn’t look thin. They asks how he teleported and he says it was a team effort. Thinman comes up and a guy pulls off the mask and Sam recognizes him as the busboy from the diner. Dean asks why they killed Casey and Roger says she turned him down for a date. They see the sheriff’s dead body and the deputy says he should have given him the time off he wanted. The deputy explains that he’s the brains and Roger is the psychopath. They explain that they grew up in the tiny town of 300 but completely invisible.

They found Thinman on a blog and decided to do it. Dean says it’s cosplay and Roger says it’s cosreal. Roger says he is Thinman and Dean says he’ll out him. Roger says he’ll be too dead. The deputy is filming and they are about to kill Dean. Sam says don’t but then they hear a noise. They tape the Winchesters’ mouths and go to investigate. It’s Ed and Harry poking around. Ed comes face to face with Thinman who strikes out at him again.

Ed holds a gun on Thinman and tells him to do the Scooby Doo and pull off the mask. He says he’s nothing but a mee-mee while Harry tries to explain it’s pronounced “meem.” They argue and the deputy sneaks up and knocks Harry down. They drag them back to near the Winchesters who have freed themselves and chaos ensues. Dean stabs Thinman with his won knife, but then the deputy pulls a gun on them. Harry leaps in front of Dean to protect him, but then Ed shoots the deputy down.

The Winchesters pack up and Dean says he left the crime scene looking like Roger and the deputy offed each other. Sam is upset because they weren’t demons, just bad people. Ed asks Harry if they’re cool and Harry says he doesn’t think they ever will be. Ed reminds him they beat the bad guys and Harry says he just wanted to finish up Thinman and then finish the Ghostfacers. He says that too many people died because of the crap Ed started. Harry tells Ed he did it all for him and that he can’t forgive him for this. Ed asks what that means and Harry says it’s complicated. He walks away.

Sam and Dean watch all of this. Dean slams the trunk. Harry asks for a ride and Dean reluctantly agrees. Harry is left with the Ghostfacers’ van and watches his friend drive away with the Winchesters. He’s devastated. Dean asks Harry if he’s okay and he says he’s not. He says he was with Ed so long he thought they would always be together, like in their old age in rocking chairs. He says the other chair will now be empty. He asks if they know what he means. Sam looks deep in thought.

 THE END!
