Was the affair Noah’s father-in-law’s fault? It seems that way given how prominently he appears throughout Noah’s version of what happened.  If what Noah is saying is real actually happened then every interaction with Allison followed after moment spent in Butler’s company. The older man makes him feel insignificant and so he seeks out outlets to deal with the pressure. Usually it could be his wife, Helen. However, with four kids, not even the alleged perfect wife could find a way to see to everyone’s needs.

So is it Butler? Or just the feeling of inadequacy that caused Noah to look outside of marriage for a reason to be happy? Maybe it’s the latter because after Noah had spoken to a publisher about a book he hasn’t exactly started – he’ll get there, he promises – he looked for Allison.

He went to her place of work and when she wasn’t there then he simply gave up and went to the library. Although Allison somehow managed to track him down at the library. And soon the two were clarifying what their relationship was.

They were going to be friends and nothing more. Noah had told her that they couldn’t start anything. He said he was married and because of that he was merely willing to spend time with her as possibly a friend. If she needed one that is. So that’s how they parted. As friends. But Noah doesn’t try hide the fact that he went after her second time later on.

He had had a tense dinner with his in-laws and afterwards he pursued Allison. Like she was the only thing at the time he needed to soothe his bruised ego. And according to him, the first time they had sex was after that dinner.

As for Allison, she was more than a waitress. So that’s why Noah had a hard time looking for her at the dinner. The diner job was apparently something for Allison to do for a while. Her actual job is at the hospital and, frankly, it was too much to bear as she got over the loss of her baby. Particularly, as she used to work in pediatrics.

Hence she gave it up for a time and it’s only recently that she’s been thinking of going back. But Allison wasn’t ready to return to work. She thought she was up until she saw sick child and it reminded her of what she lost. So she ended up running away from work and later meeting up with Noah. Because as she helps him deal with his life – he helps her escape hers.

The two of them had agreed to meet at the library. By that point, Allison, says they were already texting each other. So they spent what little time they had making out and taking in the scenery. Noah had told her she was helping him with his book by showing him around.

Yet things went south for them fairly quickly. They were nearly caught by someone and that had scared some sense into Allison. She told Noah they couldn’t keeping do “this” afterwards. And it had sounded like she meant it. But soon she was back to texting Noah.

Noah made her feel good about herself and for some reason she kept finding something fault in whatever her husband was doing. So she maintained contact with Noah. Through texts and nothing else!

And according to her, they never saw each other later that day nor did they have sex. So when did the affair begin? When Noah said it did? Or will Allison’s version of a much later date be the truth?

THE END!
