On tonight’s episode of “The Affair”, Allison finally got her chance to tell her side of the story first. And in the early days of her torrid relationship with Noah – there was a near miss with her husband. He had found her once getting all dressed up and at the time he hadn’t said anything other than “I love that dress on you”. But there had to be a part of him that asked himself why she wanted to wear it if she was claiming she wasn’t going to be doing anything important that day.

Though they both ignored the conversation that would have (and should have) come from that and instead carried on as if he hadn’t caught her in a blatant lie. On his part, he pretended the dress didn’t mean anything and went on to go surfing. And as for Allison, she chose to still go through with her assignation with Noah despite the tense environment a mere a dress had caused.

Apparently, Noah was addictive so she met up with him like nothing had happened earlier and they ended up sleeping together at a friend’s house she had borrowed/ was supposed to look after. And afterwards, while they were in their cuddling phase, Allison got a call. It seems there was some trouble at her grandmother’s nursing home and her attendance was acquired.

The trouble the nurses were alluding to was actual Allison’s mother, Athena. Athena is all about holistic medicine and when she saw how many drugs her mother was taking – she demanded the hospital stopped giving her mother so much drugs. And so Allison had to go to the hospital in person just to fight her mother’s decisions.

It’s Allison that has the power of attorney over her grandmother but Athena, whose bit of a loose cannon, likes to pretend every now and then that she’s responsible. And trying to change her mother’s medications meant she was back to playing her little game of pretend.

Athena was blaming the meds on her mother’s rapidly deteriorating mental state. However her mother has Alzheimer so the older woman was bound to lose more and more of herself. And that’s can be fixed with incense and redirecting energy. But don’t tell Athena that. Allison attempted to school her mother and the two of them soon got into a fight that wound up being all about her mother.

Allison’s sojourn, because of her mother, wasn’t scheduled in so it cost her precious time with Noah. She had to go right to work after seeing her mom. And that meant Allison had to rearrange her time in order to see Noah the second she got off.

But, once again, her mother became an issue. Athena had found her and Noah at her friend’s place and although they had tried to come up with an excuse – Athena instinctively knew what was going on. She called her daughter out on the affair and surprisingly Athena wasn’t even all that upset about it.

In a story as old as time, Athena doesn’t like her son-in-law. She thinks he’s a bully and she blames him for the estrangement she has with her daughter. So she’s happy about Allison’s affair. It means her daughter is finally growing dissatisfied with Cole.

Meanwhile, Noah’s home life wasn’t so happy either. He too had a near miss with the spouse. Helen had almost found out her husband had been lying to her from a third party. But Noah was able to shut the other man up fairly quickly.

Yet that wasn’t the only thing troubling him. His daughter Whitney has been cyberbullying a girl from school and that same girl was driven to a suicide attempt. Noah had wanted his daughter to apologize to the girl and his in-laws of course just could not stop themselves from wading in with their opinions.  They didn’t want Whitney to apologize because that would be admitting to guilt and they didn’t want the victim’s family to have a reason to sue.

Money, money, money! That was all the Butlers were concerned about and Noah was sickened by their reaction. So, in the end, he talked it over with his wife and they had agreed to punish Whitney by denying her her cell phone, her iPod, and that she still had to apologize for her actions.

Once they were done with that though Noah had gotten into a fight with Helen. She had discussed their daughter’s situation with her therapist and she told him that Whitney needed a parent at home with her at all times. And the only problem with that is the fact both her parents work.

So Helen suggested to Noah that he take a semester off. And for money, they could turn to her parents for help. Noah hadn’t liked that and that’s what started the fight.

Noah eventually left the house when the fight got too bad and he met up with Allison. But what he hadn’t told the detective was the he and Allison had discussed running away together.

As for the crime they were being asked about, it looks like something happened to Cole’s brother. The same brother that was inappropriately flirting with the underage Whitney whenever he got the chance.

THE END!
