The Voice RECAP 3/3/14: Season 6 Episode 3 “The Blind Auditions Continue” #THEVOICE

Tonight on NBC their Emmy Award winning music competition, THE VOICE returns with another new episode as the “Blind Auditions Continue” and the judges  Shakira and Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton continue to look for artists to fill their teams.  Did you watch last week’s blind auditions première?  We did and we recapped it right here, for you.

On last night’s episode it was the première of Season 6 of The Voice, but already the feathers were starting to fly. As the hopefuls turned out for their blind auditions, it’s clear this season’s field will have a diverse mix of personal stories, singing ability and stage charisma.  And with the first week of the blind auditions is behind us we are ready to continue the blind auditions and see more talented artists.

On tonight’s episode the “blind auditions” continue and are held in front of a celebrity panel of coaches, including Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher. The strongest vocalists from across the country compete to be selected by one of the coaches and fight for a chance to win the title of being named “The Voice.” Carson Daly (“Last Call with Carson Daly”) hosts.

RECAP: First up tonight is Ryan Whyte Maloney and he is from Las Vegas; he has been in several bands growing up and was lost since he got out of highschool. He worked as a garbage man for a long time, his wife left to go to Florida when seperating from him and he believes he needs this to provide for his kids. Ryan gets a video from his kids telling him they believe in him; he wants to be a better dad for them. Ryan is singing, “Lights”.

Adam, Blake and Christina turn around instantly. Usher at the end turns around. Usher says that he wanted to hit his button earlier but wanted so if he’d be consistent throughout the whole song, he believes that any of them would be incredibly lucky to have him on his team. Adam says he reminds him of Steve Perry and loves it; Blake says he sounds like nothing as Steve Perry and is completely original. Blake loves his high voice; Shakira says they are a match made in heaven. Ryan decides that he is going to choose Blake as his coach.

Next is Deshawn Washington, he loves being out in nature riding horses and fishing with his uncle; he started singing at 4 with his brothers and would love to travel the world to let them all hear his voice. He went to college but had to leave early since his family was struggling; his father is on disability and his mother can’t find a job. Music is his life and wants to pursue it right now; it would mean everything to his family and himself. Deshawn is singing “Twistin’ The NIght Away”.

Shakira hits her button. Deshawn is automatically on Shakira’s team; Usher says he is stupid and wishes he hit his button. Usher loved how he came out with some classic soul singing, he is so disappointed with himself for not turning around for him. Shakira says she is the only smart one here; she loves his vintage sound.

Next up is Sam Behymer and she is a nanny taking care of two little boys; she started singing in church. Though when she never started performing till college; her parents want her to be financially stable and they don’t believe music is something she should pursue it. Sam believes that The Voice will help her parents understand why she is going for music; she is singing “Royals”.

Adam turns his chair right away. Usher then turns around as well. Adam says she is a breath of fresh air, a lot of singers sound really generic and he sees there were issues and believes he knows exactly how to help her. Usher says she has a unique quirky tone that becomes her character; he feels like he could compliment her growth and something he will thrive with. Sam decides she wants Adam to be her coach.

Next up is a complication of other artists that didn’t make it on the show and Usher tells them to come back after telling them what they did wrong.

Next up is Brendan Ryan and his parents met from music; they were wedding singers. Brendan says music has always been a passion in his life, but he also loves comedy a lot; though he knows he is a musician. Brendan is singing “Love On Top”.

None of the coaches turn around for Brendan; Adam says he has an amazing range and felt a lot was going on that didn’t come together though he sounded great. Blake says he deserves to be in the competition, he believes he made a big mistake and wants Usher to help him; Usher says it was difficult to capture who he was. Usher says he should choose a song that represents him as an artist more; Brendan says he will never give up.

Next up is Cody Walker and Clinton Walker; they are twin brothers. They started singing since they could talk, they even opened for one of Johnny Cash’s shows; they even joined a band in high school but never decided to pursue music. The two have a recording studio and Clinton is an algebra teacher in high school; they have finally decided to finally pursue music for themselves. The twin Walkers are singing “Keep Me In Mind”.

Usher hits his button right at the end; Usher says it must be odd for them that he turned around. Usher says they have amazing personalities; Blake says they sounded amazing. Usher says he doesn’t know much about country but knows quality; Usher believes it’s incredible to work in an area he respects but never touched. The brothers thank Usher so much.

Next up is Clarissa Serna and works at a Real Estate company that he parents own; even though she loves what she is doing now but music is her true passion in life. She believes The Voice is a way for her to finally break out into her dreams; she used to play at venues when she was 17. Clarissa is singing “Zombies”.

Adam hits his button. Shakira hits her button and turns around as well. Blake then hits his button when she hits the high note. Usher then hits his last at the end. Blake says he loved and couldn’t help but turn around; Shakira says she loved that song and truly wants to be her coach. Usher says he likes to savior the moment and took his time to turn around and believes she has so much more; Adam says he was the first to turn around and says the song was amazing. He enjoy himself throughout her entire performance. Clarissa decides she wants to go with Shakira.

Next up is Robert Lee and he is a mail man and has been one for 4 years; he goes house to house delivering the mail though his passion is music. He plays gigs 4 times a week and it’s hard; he got married at 20 before he got divorced. He has a 7 year old daughter that changed his life, he can’t describe how much his daughter means to him. He got married recently and his wife now is pregnant with twins; he wants to do this for them. Robert is singing “The Weight”.

None of the coaches turn around for Robert; Adam says he loves his voice. Blake wanted him to open up from his nasally sound, Adam says that he loved the song but didn’t feel like he had that moment of wanting him; he would love to have him do a little something else. Usher says he could pull off a lot more and would love to see him again.

Next up is Melissa Jimenez and has been making a living part of her fathers band since she was 15, she loves being with them but wants to be a solo artist so badly; she has been signed to a record label but it didn’t work out at all. Melissa is singing “If I Ain’t Got You”.

Shakira and Usher push their buttons. Usher is so happy to hear her performance acapella in the beginning; Adam even says her voice was so great. Usher says he loved the choice of song and wants to make history with her; he wants to go all the way to the end with her. Shakira says they will be unstoppable together; Melissa decides she wants Usher to be her coach.

Next up is Patrick Thomson and he mother was in a folk band; they always went with her to band rehearsal. Patrick has two different bands he works with and loves it; his mother loves his voice and knows that music is for him. Patrick has done several jobs but still knows music is all he wants to pursue in life even though he is in his 30’s. Patrick is singing “Can’t You See”.

Blake hits hs button and so does Adam. Adam says he failed trying to pretend he didn’t like him, but after Blake turned around he knew he had to go loving the grit in Patrick’s voice. Blake says he wants to change him; Adam says he only wants to help him. Usher says that going with Adam would be smart; Blake says that the sound he has is just amazing. Patrick says he wants Adam as his coach.

Next up is 17 year old Allison Bray and she has been singing since she was 4 year old; her family doesn’t like how she is doing bar gigs being under 21 years old. She loves the old classic songs, Allison is singing “Where The Boys Are”.

None of the coaches turn around; Blake asks why she sang that song and Allison says she just loves the old songs. Adam says it was such a nice and refreshing song; there was so much that was close and wants her to comeback because he knows she can make it without a doubt. Shakira says the last 10 seconds were amazing and wishes she was like that consistently; Blake says he wants to work hard on her pitch and could easily make it far on the show.

Last up tonight is Sisaundra Lewis and all she did as a kid was pick fruit; her parents were very supportive of her dream to sing. Her dad passed when she was young and wishes she could be here now; she was a vocal director for Celine Dion. Celine Dion even gives her a video telling her she wishes her the best of luck on The Voice. Sisaundra is singing “Ain’t No Way”.

Shakira hits her button, Adam then hits his right after, shortly after Blake does the same; Usher then hits his right at the end. Blake says he realized right now that he was so lucky to see her perform and how her ears hold so much weight; he also mentions he would buy her album tomorrow. Adam says that he still doesn’t feel it was her best; he believes she can be even more amazing. Usher says when she first started he was reluctant because it was his favorite song and believes she can grow; Shakira says her voice is so ravishing and knows the guys wont be able to handle her. Sisaundra decides she wants Blake as her coach.
