The Walking Dead Spoilers Season 5 Episode 8 Mid-Season Finale "Coda": Norman Reedus Describes 'Mindblowing' Confrontation

The Walking Dead spoilers for season 5 episode 8, the mid-season finale, “Coda,” promise plenty of zombie action. Guys, we all know what’s coming right? The Walking Dead is fairly skilled at keeping its shock twists and turns under wraps, but we all know that Beth [Emily Kinney] is dying in the mid-season finale, a.k.a. Episode 8 of The Walking Dead. We’ve received consistent tip-offs for the past few months about how Emily Kinney hasn’t been present on set in over a few months, and that almost always means a character death.

Now, it’s especially difficult for Daryl [Norman Reedus] because of his pseudo-romance situation going on with Beth right now. I do have to add that it’s particularly tragic that Maggie [Lauren Cohan] seems to care about her sister far less than Daryl does, and that’s weird. However, Daryl fan girls eat up any whispers of a possible romantic situation, so there’s obviously a lot of investment in this. Unfortunately for Beth/Daryl shippers, it looks like your time is coming to an end.

Either way, both Daryl and his actor are extremely sad about the aforementioned end, and Norman even teased a ‘dark’ ending in a recent interview. He explained his mindset shooting a certain scene, explaining, “I really wanted not to tear up during the scene–I wanted to be like I had wasted every tear in my body before we started shooting–so I just sat there and cried and cried and cried.”

Robert Kirkman, one of the show’s executive producers, also added that we shouldn’t expect repetition with the villains – particularly with the hospital group. Kirkman added, “This confrontation is definitely going to be substantially different from the confrontation with The Governor (David Morrissey) or Gareth (Andrew J. West).”

Well, the confrontation with Gareth was quick, while the confrontation with the Governor was long, drawn out, and painful. So the confrontation with these hospital folks will be somewhere in between?
