The Young and the Restless spoilers are loaded with details of the past, present, and future – Devon, Hillary, and Neil play a big part. Bryton James has played the role of Devon Hamilton Winters since 2004. While Devon is helping build the Victor Newman Rec Center in Genoa City, he encounters Lily Winters. Devon at first, had Lily believe he was a rich kid attending a private school on the other end of town. Lily soon found out the truth. Devon was really living in a foster home. His whole life he had been bounced from home to home. At this point, Devon was being forced out again. Lily encourages her mother Drucilla to try and help Devon any way she can. After convincing Neil, Lily’s father, Devon moved in with the Winters.
Devon told the Winters about his drug addicted mother. There was also no know father figure in Devon life. Devon’s new family had him living a normal life at last. The first time for Devon. The Winters took started the next steps to permanently adopted Devon.
Living life in his new family was certainly a dream come true. Expectations were running high for Devon with his 17th birthday approaching. Unfortunately, his new family did not remember their new son’s birthday. Feeling bad, Devon skipped school and headed to the zoo. A place that held special meaning for him as a child. Unknowingly, Devon found himself trapped in a lion’s den. Uncle Malcolm rushed to Devon side and rescued him just in time.
During all the commotion, Lily hit Neil with her car. Neil was badly injured and needed surgery. Devon blamed himself for the accident. He felt very guilty about running away and causing the family to worry. Neil eventually recovered and help his son realize that he was not his fault. The father son bond grew strong from that day on.
Now that Devon finally has his life in order, he set out to help his real mother Yolanda Hamilton. She was a drug addict. Her drug of choice was crack cocaine. Devon tried so hard to help Yolanda. He even convinced his new family to take his mother in for awhile. Needless to say, her drug habit was to much for her to over come even with her son’s help.
Soon after, Devon started college. Not long after, Devon developed meningitis. He was very sick and ended up losing his hearing. Devon was lucky to have the loving support of his family. Coming close to losing their son, the Winters pushed the to officially adopt Devon. He was also able to have a cochlear implant and was able to hear again.
There also came a very sad time for Devon when his newly adopted mother, Drucilla was killed during a modeling accident. This left the whole Winters family in shock and disbelief. Neil helped Devon and Lily deal with their mother’s death and move on.
Devon met up with his Aunt Tyra soon after. She was raising a child Ana. Devon soon learned that Ana was his half sister and not his cousin as he thought all long. Yolanda had given Ana to Tyra as a baby. The now brother sister duo formed a tight bond. They also shared a passion for music.
Neil fell for his son’s Aunt Tyra and soon dated. At this time, Devon also dating his long time girlfriend Roxy. Devon soon learned Aunt Tyra was not his real Aunt. The two ended up sleeping together. This really hurt Neil and Roxy. As to help Neil and Devon mend their relationship, Tyra left town. Roxy also forgave Devon and the two reunited.
Shortly after, Devon began collaborating with Noah Newman and McCall unlimited producing music. Tucker McCall, president of McCall Unlimited took more than a vested interest in the rising star. It became know to Tucker through his former groupie Yolanda, that he was the father of her son Devon. When Devon finally learned who his biological father was, he did not want anything to do with him. He fought hard not to have a relationship with him, At the same time, he also learned that Katherine Chancellor was his paternal grandmother. Katherine gave up Tucker years before. The three now formed a new instant family that Devon did want part of. After taking his father Neil’s advice, Devon slowly started in find a relation with his real dad and grandmother.
Unfortunately for Devon, his grandmother soon past away. The billionaire Katherine Chancellor left her fortune to her new grandson Devon. Acquiring all this money, made Devon realize he wanted more out of life than just mucic. He just wasn’t certain what he wanted to do. With Katherine gone, Tucker decided to leave town. He felt Devon was in a good place with Neil at this side. Neil soon had his son working by his side at Jabot.
It didn’t take much time, for Devon to realize that working a corporate job was not his thing. He left Jabot and purchased the infamous Genoa City Athletic Club. He wanted to revamp the historic place. He hired his sister Lily and brother-in-law Cane to manage and run the place.
Around this time, Devon love life took a nose dive. All the newly acquired fortunate was too much for his and Roxy’s relationship The two ended up parting ways.
Devon took a short lived interest in a Jabot model Esmeralda. This relationship was merely a distraction. His real interest was in Hillary Curtis. The girl that was torturing Neil and his family for a run in with her now deceased mother. Hillary finally straightened up her act and forgave Neil. At the same time, Devon was falling for her hard. Neil’s infatuation with much younger Hillary, led him to marry her in a quick ceremony. Devon was totally devastated. He found himself in love with his father’s new wife. Devon couldn’t hide his feelings and confronted Hillary. She also had feelings for Devon. The two fought very hard to stay away, but the attraction was too great. After Neil was blinded by an electrical explosion, Hillary turned to Devon and they finally submitted to one another.
