The quickest way to convince me that a story is true is to go overboard with a denial. We told you guys last week about a story making the rounds about The Young and the Restless star Melody Thomas Scott who plays Nikki Newman in the context of the Susan Lucci’s job offer on Y&R. In recent months she has spoken out in support of show runner Jill Farren Phelps and the decisions that have been made regarding casting changes and firings. Nikki stabbed Michael Muhney in the back by supporting his firing – it seems that she used the opportunity to slam MM in order to get in Jill’s good books.
Scott has insisted that she has no issue with Phelps, at least until the other day when we heard that she caught wind of Susan Lucci being offered a role on the show and made a phone call to the daytime diva. Supposedly Scott discouraged Lucci from jumping onto the CBS sound stage because it’s not the best environment to work in. It was also revealed that while Scott has publicly supported Phelps she hates her behind the scenes.
Rather than ignore the GLOBE Magazine article or issue one line saying it wasn’t true, Scott took to her Facebook and point by point took issue with the entire piece. First of all, GLOBE’s record on soap opera spoilers and inside news is perfect, so why now would they be so far off the mark this time? Facts are that Melody’s statement sounds very much like someone trying to save her job! There is such a thing as denying too much, protesting too strongly, and in doing so Scott made herself look guilty of everything that the article had accused her of. She claims that Y&R is a harmonious place to work and we all know what a ridiculous notion that is. Even if the cast likes Jill Farren Phelps they still know her reputation and the bottom line is that nobody’s job there is truly safe, not even Scott’s.
My guess is that the actress didn’t want good old Jilly catching wind of her comments and believing them because it could tick her off just enough to write a storyline that sends Nikki off a cliff – literally. Do you think that Scott really did warn Susan Lucci not to accept the job offer and really does hate her boss and is now simply trying to save her job? And what about Susan Lucci – will she wind up accepting the job offer to come to The Young and the Restless. Susan Lucci will not make a difference on this show….If Y & R would listen to their long-time viewers they would have better story lines and never have let MM nor Billy Miller go !
OF COURSE MTS doesn’t want Susan Lucci on Y&R! She would be direct competition for storyline/airtime. I believe this info 100% – MTS also made Maura West’s (ex-Diane) time at Y&R hell and ran her out on a rail. Actor survival instincts and egos…
