Tonight’s episode of American Idol kicks off with the judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr, and Keith Urban head back to the theater for Day #2 of Hollywood Week. We pick up where we left off last week, Gabby is frozen in shock on stage – and has totally forgotten the words to the song. After a few minutes of completely awkward silence Harry Connick Jr. gets up on stage and leads Gabby away and tells her to take a few minutes while the rest of her row sings. Gabby receives a pep-talk from her mom and decides to give it another shot and gets back on stage. After Gabby sings the judges deliberate, they announce that Gabby has made the cut and she is moving on to the group rounds.

Up next is Nashville auditioner Andrew Annello, he sings a rendition of Amy Winehouse’s song “Valarie.” 16 year old New Yorker Maddie Walker follows Andrew, and barefoot Kansas City singer Alexis Gomez. After the performances J-Lo, Harry, and Keith announce that Maddie and Alexis are going through to the group rounds – but Andrew is officially eliminated. The line of singers to take the stage at Hollywood Week has drag queen Dakota in it, after her rendition of “You Make Me Feel Like A Woman,” the judges break the news to her that she didn’t make the cut and is going home. Dakota isn’t the only one though, there is a string of bad singers right behind him.

Meanwhile outside Jax is crushing on Qaasim Middleton, she flirts with him and gushes about how much she likes his hair. Then it is time for Qaasim to head inside and perform for the American Idol judges. And, apparently the judges like Qaasim as much as Jax does because they announce that he is going through to the next round of Hollywood Week.

Now, it’s time for our favorite part of Hollywood Week – group rounds! The remaining contestants begin racing around the theater getting in to groups of four. Some groups have already formed, however there are some stragglers running around One contestant named Alexis has been left high and dry and groupless.” Sal saves the day and invites Alexis to come join his group of ladies – and they are the only group of five.

The groups head back to the hotel and prepare to pull an all-nighter and learn their songs, some of the groups are so confident that they head to bed and decide to get a good night’s sleep. But, other groups didn’t make it to bed and at 6:45 AM they have to board the bus and head back to the theater for their group day performances.

The first group to perform has named themselves “Double Stuffed,” they actually got some sleep last night and didn’t work as much as the other groups. David Oliver Willis, Jesse Kline, Clark Beckham, and J. None take the stage and perform “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered” for the American Idol Judges. Afterwards Jennifer Lopez gushes that “they sang really well and delivered their harmonies.” Keith Urban says that they are “talented, and they sang good but they were missing some parts of the song.” The judges deliberate, and then they announce that all four guys are safe and going through to the next round.

The next group to perform has named themselves “Sheba Squared,” and it is made up of Andrew Bloom, Shi Scott Adam Exegelian, and Big Ron Wilson. The group performs a rendition of “TLC” and waits for the judge’s decision. Keith Urban announces that Shi, Adam, and Big Ron are going through – but the judges have decided to eliminate Andrew Bloom and send him home.

Up next is “The Dream Team,” which is made up of Maddy Hudson, Reno Anoa’l, Tyanna Jones, and Steffi Ledbetter – all four singers are only 16 years old, and their inexperience shows. Jennifer Lopez announces that it was by far not the best group performance they have seen today, Keith and Harry agree that the song was not suitable for all of their voices. After careful deliberation the judges tell Steffi that she is eliminated and is going home, Maddy, Reno, and Tyanna are all going through. “The Dream Team” heads out in to the hallway teary-eyed to say their “goodbyes” to Steffi.

THE END!
