American Idol 2015: Top 16 Contestants - Who Are The Favorites?

American Idol 2015 has lots of excitement coming up for us now we make it down to the Top 16 contestants.  The first week of March will bring us a view of the Top 8 guys and the Top 8 gals still in competition on American Idol. The last couple of episodes in February allowed us to see the Top 12 guys and the Top 12 women perform but as contestants are eliminated, we get to see fewer and fewer in the top performance episodes.

We will find out on March 4 and 5 which guys and gals made the cut from Top 12 down to Top 8. The Top 12 performances last week showcased a variety of performances from the girls and guys — some wowed and showed that they’ve got the chops to keep plugging away in this competition, while other performances left judges and audiences a little “meh,” and still others were a little on the disastrous side.

Lovey James, Katherine Winston, Shannon Berthiaume, and Shi Scott all seem to be frontrunners for the ladies cut from the contest pool this week. Their performances ranged from lackluster to “ohmygoodness what is happening here?” While “American Idol” proves time and time again that nobody is safe from getting the old heave-ho, sometimes it’s easier to tell who will be going home.

All of the ladies who have made it thus far deserve props for making it as far as they have, but now that we are winding down to the final finalists, this when is when we will see serious separations of sheep from goats, so to speak. Now, judges and the American public are looking for pure talent, but also something more. Unfortunately, pure talent alone doesn’t mean you will cut it in show business — you also need to have stage presence and a fresh approach that makes people sit up and take notice.

Another lady who may be in danger is Maddie Walker but who should you be watching for stardom? Sarina-Joi Crowe, Jax and Alexis Gomez have talent and pizzazz that have gotten attention from the judges and should be getting America’s attention. Pay attention to those three — they may be in it until the very end.

As far as the guys go, keep your eyes on Nick Fradiani, Quentin Alexander, and Rayvon Owen. These three had great performances that showed they have what it takes to make it to the Top 8 and even beyond.

America is fickle, though, and just because one person thinks these guys and gals will go on while others will be cut doesn’t mean a thing. Some of the most talented contestants of past seasons on AI were cut way too soon and some of the less talented continued on. All that we can do is wait until American Idol Wednesday March 4 and Thursday March 5 to see what America really thinks and hope they got it right.
