Bobbi Kristina Brown has family members coming out of the woodwork for 15 minutes of fame. Bobby Brown’s attorney issued a statement to discredit cousin Jerod Brown’s updates on Bobbi Kristina Brown. It’s been almost two weeks since Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, was found unresponsive in her bathtub. Since then, pretty much every Brown and Houston out there has been clamoring to get his or her 15 minutes of fame.
The interviews the Browns and Houstons are giving to the media have only increased the confusion surrounding Bobbi Kristina’s condition. One relative in particular, Jerod Brown, has made statements that seemed to indicate Bobbi Kristina was in bad shape. However, Bobby Brown and several other Brown family members deny Jerod’s claims.
Bobby Brown had his attorney, Christopher Brown, issue a statement noting that Jerod hasn’t been in contact with Bobbi Kristina or anyone else within the family throughout the entire ordeal. Despite that fact, Jerod continues to talk to various media outlets and provide Facebook posts on Bobbi Kristina’s status. Jerod even organized a candlelight vigil for Bobbi Kristina. Bobby Brown’s attorney requested that people steer clear of any meet-and-greet put on by Jerod or other unauthorized family members. He said that Jerod “is unable to provide access to Bobbi Kristina or information on her condition.”
Perhaps Bobby Brown is trying to clear things up by issuing a statement against Jerod and any other family members, but he may be doing more harm than good. The Brown attorney claims that “this is a criminal investigation” and that the Brown family doesn’t “need this side show.” Unfortunately, issuing statements to discredit relatives may be turning this into a full-on circus. It might be better to just let them say what they will and instead focus on Bobbi Kristina’s recovery.
