Chasing Life Cancelled: ABC Family Pulls Plug After Season 2 Finale, Italia Ricci Confirms Show Over – Fans Devastated

ABC Family’s groundbreaking new drama “Chasing Life” has been officially cancelled. The Season 2 finale aired earlier this week on September 28, and just four days later TV Line is announcing that the network has pulled the plug on the emotional drama starring Italia Ricci – and there will not be a Season 3.

It’s no secret that “Chasing Life” didn’t have the most stellar ratings, but the series did have some devoted and diehard fans – they have taken to the internet to let ABC Family know they are not happy about the cancellation and have already begun campaigns to try and get it picked up by another network or possibly Netflix.

The emotional drama followed the life of April Edwards (Italia Ricci), a young cancer patient who was building a career in journalism for herself when she was totally derailed and learned she had cancer. Over the course of the past two seasons “Chasing Life” fans have watched April’s tumultuous and emotional battle with cancer, and how it affected her love life and family life.

After the death of her fiancé Leo (who also had cancer), the Season 2 finale featured April and her pals travelling to Italy – during the emotional trip April confessed that she had been kicked out of the clinical trials and had opted not to receive a bone marrow transplant. She was considering staying in Italy to live out the remainder of her life.

So, “Chasing Life” didn’t exactly leave off with an excruciating cliffhanger – but devoted fans of the show were really hoping for a happier, happy ending. Regardless, that is the last we will see of April Edwards and her friends and family, actress Italia Ricci has confirmed the sad news, “Chasing Life” is officially cancelled.
