#Elementary starts now. Joan gets her new office at Leda and is told to make herself at home. She asks how they feel about PJs at the office. Del jokes about expanding casual Friday. She says she can’t wait to get started. She takes a call from Sherlock and tells him it’s not a good time. Kitty comes home and finds Joan and Sherlock waiting for her. He says the man who took her in London is there in NYC. She asks how he knows and he tells her about Melanie Vilkas body. She says he is a serial after all.

Sherlock says she died from blunt force trauma and Kitty says he never left a body before. Sherlock says he thinks this body was meant to be found and Joan says they think it’s no coincidence and Joan says they will find him. Sherlock wants her to go to a safe house or to London. She says she became a detective to hunt him but Sherlock says he’s ready for her. She says the trail in London was cold but it’s not now. She says she’d give anything to find him.

Gregson says Brandon Powell, Melanie’s fiance, was much hated by her parents and he wants to know why the detective only has one page of notes on the case. He says her jewelry was taken. The ring was a family heirloom – an emerald. He says Powell took the ring when he killed her. Gregson says he’s been removed from the case. Sherlock says Powell doesn’t even have a passport. The man asks why it matters.

Kitty lifts her shirt and shows the scars and says she got those in London when she was kept for three days but it felt like longer. A woman is thrown into a room and told it’s going to get worse. She sees an emerald ring on the floor. Sherlock sees a resemblance between the victim and Kitty. He tells Kitty the killer is making it personal but tells her not to follow his lead. Sherlock hones in one selfie – he says it’s significant because it’s her only selfie.

He wonders if she was going to look into a dating site since her parents didn’t like her fiance. They talk to a guy named Ron she talked to on a dating site LoveMatchSet.com. He said they only talked online. Gregson says you agreed to meet in person the night she went missing. Kitty looks at him and says she can’t say positively that’s him or not. Marcus talks to Kitty and she says her drink was drugged in a club and she woke with her eyes taped over but he sounded American.

Marcus says she survived and got away and that’s a testament. Ron says he didn’t do this. Ron says he was there but he saw her and she wasn’t as hot as her photo so he left. He says he never even spoke to her. He says he met up with some guys from work and there were at a club til about 2 am. Joan follows up at the place they were supposed to meet. The bartender remembers Melanie.

He says she seemed really drunk. She asks to see security footage but there are no camera so she asks for credit card receipts. He says a phone was found under the table. She tells him not touch it in case there are prints. Kitty studies the receipts but finds no one with a record. She finds Melanie’s receipt. Kitty doesn’t think it’s sound that Joan is working this case on her first day at Leda. Sherlock says they should take a meeting and she asks hers or his.

He says hers and she says they have a case. Marcus calls about the burner and they have prints from an ex-con. They pull it up and Kitty looks at it. The door is knocked in and the cops find the girl that was locked away. In fact, there’s a bunch of woman locked in a bunch of rooms. The branding iron is there too. Gregson says it’s him. Marcus says it’s not what he was expecting. They call Marcus over to the garage.

There’s a dead guy in the garage and Marcus says he thinks he was fleeing the scene of a murder. Joan goes to talk to Sonya, one of the rescued girls. She asks what’s being done to find Simon the man who did this. She says this was not their choice. She says he gave orders and watched them and they brought girls to America from Croatia. His name was Ervin. His body was find out the house and they think Simon killed him.

Sonya says good. Sonya says Simon said she was the most trouble. She says she asked one man to call the police. She says Simon said the hit you and rape you and make you take drugs until you will meet the men and then you finally give up. She says she didn’t want it anymore. They show her the photo of Melanie and she says she didn’t see her but they kept them from seeing each other and says they sometimes bring in girls just to sell. Joan tells her she’s safe now.

Joan asks Kitty if she’s okay. Kitty says the man who took her was a predator and it was simple. She says she thought she was going to be killed. She asked what if she was meant to end up a plaything for years. Joan says there are differences between she and Melanie and the others. She says some were from Eastern Europe while you and Melanie were drugged in bars. Kitty asks if that’s supposed to make her feel better.

Joan says she’s just trying to understand this man. Kitty says he doesn’t need a why. Sherlock calls and says Simon stole a car. Sherlock says Simon was stabbed and he followed the blood trail to where he stole a car and took it to Port Authority and then to a hospital. He thinks he went to his sister at Immaculate Heart where she works. Sherlock says she and Kitty can join the search. The sister says he showed up out of nowhere and told her he was in a bar fight.

She says the cut wasn’t bad so she taped him up and told him to go. Sherlock pokes around the pharmacy and the sister says it’s a mistake and he’s not a rapist. Sherlock says she may be right and he thanks her for her time. They walk out. Kitty says he’s lying and he says he knows. He says her souls it a horror and she aided and abetted her brother. Marcus says they’ll get a tail and electronic surveillance on her. Sherlock says he came for esephera. It treats a condition called PNH and is extremely costly.

Sherlock says since Joan is an investigator at a major medical insurance company would have access to that. Del says that could be a felony. He says he doesn’t know how to request a list of patients with a list of diseases. He says it’s irregular. She says it can be an actuarial model. She says it’s life and death. Kitty knocks on the door of Simon’s sister’s apartment and apologizes for losing her temper. She asks to ask her a couple of questions. She lets her in and says she can have five minutes.

Kitty tells her there’s an unmarked police car out front. Kitty pulls out her beat down stick after she turns down the lights so she can’t be seen.

Sherlock is listening to something on his headphones when Joan comes in. She asks where Kitty is and he says she’s at a meeting. He’s listening to bees to help him focus. He can’t figure out Simon’s pattern because of his fugitive. Gregson calls and says Simon’s sister is coming to the station. Whatever Kitty did or said worked. She says he took the esphera. Kitty asks if she’s just there to clear her conscience. She says he left her a phone number if she got more esphera.

She offers to try and get him to meet with her. She calls while the police track the call. He asks what it is. She says the police asked about him. He asks why she called. She says she can get more esphera but he says he has enough. She says she can get a car. He says his face is everywhere. He says he can ride it out. He hangs up. They only got the tower and the radius. It’s near Garrison Beach. Sherlock says he heard an electric marine toilet and says he’s on a boat.

There are two possible marinas. Marcus and a bunch of cops are combing them slowly. Sherlock tells Kitty to breathe. She asks him if he’s sure about the sound. He is. He asks how his sister grew a conscience overnight. She says maybe she talked to a lawyer. He asks how her meeting went. Marcus calls and says he’s not there and says they have to call off the hunt. Sherlock notices something. He says not to send them home yet.

They walk into a restaurant on the marina and ask the manager about Simon. His son has PNH. He says he showed up yesterday and had the medication his son needs. Marcus says not to alert him. Gregson thinks the Albanians nailed the door of the boat shut and set it on fire with Simon in it. The guy’s wife called 911 to report the fire. Is Kitty’s tormentor dead? That sounds too easy. Sherlock comes to see Gregson. He says Kitty went to the morgue to see if it’s really Simon.

Gregson asks him to close the door. He asks if he knows Kitty went to see Violet. He says after the fact. He says Violet came back and showed them bruises Kitty left on her. Sherlock asks if Gregson believes her. Sherlock says Violet didn’t seem coerced at the time. Gregson says he looked the other way once but can’t this time and has to suspend her association with the department. Kitty says the dental records match Simon’s.

Kitty says he’s not the man who raped her. She says to look at his right hand. She broke some of his right hand fingers when she was escaping. Kitty insists it’s not him. She asks if Sherlock thinks she’s crazy. He says he knows some of how she must feel. He talks to her about his own ideas of a sense of closure and she’s angry that he thinks she somehow wants denial. He promises to help her review the evidence. She says someone hurt her but he was the one who hurt himself.

She says there’s no comparison to how she’s feeling. She walks away. Joan comes home to a ringing phone. It’s Del. He says he was watching the news. He asks if she’s coming back to work and she asks for an extra day. There’s someone in her apartment. It’s Kitty. She asks who it was. Kitty searches for Del’s name online. She looks him up and plays the voice. She shudders. She says she was wrong. She says she never forgot the voice. She says that’s the man who attacked her.
