Elizabeth Smart Gave Birth to Baby Girl Chloe 3 Months Ago: Father Announces

Elizabeth Smart, the young woman who was kidnapped from her home in Utah when she was only 14-years-old is doing amazingly well now. After he kidnapping, she became an activist for missing children, and now Elizabeth’s father, Ed Smart, has revealed to East Idaho News that Elizabeth has recently given birth to a healthy baby girl. He says, “Elizabeth is great. She just had a little baby girl about three months ago. Chloe. We’re just so excited.”

Ed Smart goes onto say that Chloe is his third grandchild. Ed also spoke with The Salt Lake City Tribune and revealed that Elizabeth did not want to tell the media right away, and was happy to keep things private. He also said that the media learning three months after birth is “just what Elizabeth wanted. It is totally private. This is something she is keeping to herself and not trying to have out there.”

Elizabeth is now 27-years-old and is married to Matthew Gilmour, a Scottish man who she met while on a mission for her Mormon church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elizabeth and Matthew celebrated their marriage with a small wedding ceremony at a Mormon temple somewhere in Hawaii back in 2012. Ed Smart recently shared a photo of himself with a baby girl on social media, who we can now assume to be Chloe.

Elizabeth Smart was abducted in 2002 by a homeless street preacher. During this time Elizabeth was forced to endure sexual assaults while she was held captive by her abductor for nine months. Smart was also forced to walk in public while wearing a disguise, but she was finally freed when a passerby identified her in Salt Lake City.

Since then, both Elizabeth and her father have become child safety advocates. Ed spoke to East Idaho news at a screening of a documentary that focused on sex trafficking. He said, “We want all of those people that have been victimized out there to be survivors. We want them to find their dreams and find that new hope in life that helps them become the best the most they can be.:

Congratulations to Elizabeth Smart on the birth of her baby girl.
