Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are reportedly renewing their wedding vows to save their marriage. Ellen and Portia have been on the verge of a divorce for over a year now, and the actress and talk show host recently began living in separate houses and fighting more than ever. The latest divorce rumor popped up when it was revealed that Portia thought Ellen was cheating on her with her close pal Tatum O’Neal. Ellen and Tatum were very close, and Portia never thought anything of it – until Tatum stated in an interview that she was only dating women now … and then all hell broke loose.
Renewing their wedding vows to save their marriage has become general practice for a lot of celebrity couples. For some reason, they seem to think that if they say “I Do” again, then it is like a fresh start, and all of their previous relationship problems will just disappear. Recently, the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in all 50 states, so Ellen and Portia think that now would be the perfect and ceremonious time to renew their vows.
A source dished to Radar Online, “Since the ruling, Ellen has gotten a ton of emails and tweets thanking her and Portia for paving the way for gay marriage to be recognized nationwide. She knows that getting re-married in Louisiana, which has always been a very anti-gay state, would be rubbing it in to some people, but she does not care.”
At this point, it really is a miracle that Ellen and Portia haven’t divorced already. And, considering they are fighting like cats and dogs, renewing their wedding vows is really just a temporary Band-Aid on their marriage woes. What do you guys think?
