In sadder news of the day, extreme action sports star Erik Roner has died from injuries sustained during a freak skydiving accident in the Lake Tahoe area. The news has been confirmed by a resort near where it happened, and his loss is being felt all throughout the extreme sports community. Roner was known for starring in MTV’s show Nitro Circus, helmed by Travis Pastrana, alongside other featured performers who would travel the world doing daring stunts.
According to TMZ, Roner hit a tree during his descent; the inflicted injuries are ultimately what led to his death. A spokesperson for the Squaw Valley Ski Resort says that Roner was jumping with a team of divers. The dive team was supposedly part of an act meant to open a golf tournament of some sort. That’s when things went drastically wrong.
