Is the Falconeri marriage doomed? This “General Hospital” spoilers looks at how Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins) may wreck the marriage of Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) if Dillon keeps on the course he’s charted. This week in Port Charles, we’ll see Dillon turn to his dad Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) for advice about his unrequited love for Lulu.
The problem is, Paul is a cheating thug who is hell-bent on taking over Port Charles – he’s not exactly the master of romance, subtlety, or respect for marriage. Of course, Paul will tell Dillon to go take what he wants (or some version of that sentiment). It will be couched more like “life is short” or “you can’t help who you love” or some other encouragement to go and tell Lulu how he feels.
Since Lulu is married, obviously in love with her husband, and has a kid, what decent human would try and crack that apart? Dillon telling Lulu that he has feelings for her is purely a selfish act. Dillon has nothing to lose while Lulu has her whole life and family at risk. By the end of the week, Dillon will take his dad’s advice and confess to Lulu that he loves her and can’t stop thinking about her.
It’s obvious to Lulu that something is stirring there already since the screenplay clearly resonates the former relationship of Lulu and Dillon. Lulu is already struggling with feelings for Dillon but has worked hard to put them behind her and focus on her marriage. Not only is Dillon being selfish by telling Lulu about his feelings, but he’s doing so when Dante is in emotional turmoil over his dad’s shooting.
Dillon is doubling down on selfishness with this call. And, by telling Lulu the he cares for her, Dillon is clearly hoping that she’ll reciprocate. Constructively, this means that Dillon wants Lulu to break up her marriage and turn to him. Here’s where this mess gets more interesting. Lulu will rebuff Dillon initially and tell him that she loves Dante and can’t be with Dillon. But there’s more to it.
Someone will oversee their conversation and misunderstand the implications – it may be Nathan West (Ryan Paevey). Dillon’s confession will get back to Dante without all of the important details – including that she rejected Dillon. This, in turn, will likely send Dante spinning back to Valerie Spencer (Brytni Sarpi) who, according to “General Hospital” rumor, is pregnant with his child.
We can expect Lulu to catch Dante with Valerie, to find out the truth that Dante and Valerie already slept together once, and are expecting a baby. This comedy of errors will turn tragic because Lulu may end up furious with Dillon for triggering the break-up of her marriage with Dante. In turn, Dante may blame Valerie and all four of them may end up alone with unrequited love all over the place.
