“General Hospital” (GH) spoilers reveal the news that Jake Doe is Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) is just starting to leak around Port Charles now that the wedding is over and the fallout may result in not only emotional damage but physical danger as well. How long will it be before Jason’s mobbed up past comes back to haunt him and those he loves? Looks like soon.
Jason already told Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) in their post failed wedding chat on the bridge that he has to deal with what it means to be Jason Morgan and how this could spell danger from former mob rivals. Liz can’t see past her love for Jason to the hard truth he’s telling her. After all, Jason walked away from Liz back in the day for just this reason – will he do so now too?
In fact, the mob dangers are what may drive Jason to reject Liz and her kids as well as Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) and her son too. Jason is a better man now and he hates the side of him that is so skilled at violence. He will also hate that the reality of his dangerous past puts everyone near him in danger. To be fair, it will take a bit longer for word to reach the underworld that Jason Morgan is back.
But there are forces at work in Port Charles that will know very soon that the most dangerous weapon in the arsenal of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is back from the dead. Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) represent a significant risk to Jason. Even though Ava came to Port Charles after Jason was “killed” on the docks, she knows the danger he poses and Paul does as well.
After all, it was Jason that foiled Paul’s attempt on Sonny’s life and complicated the takeover of the Port Charles underworld. It was bad enough when he was just a random Jake Doe, but once Paul learns that Jake is Jason, he will recognize that wasn’t just a lucky coincidence – Jason is skilled enough to put a dent in Paul’s plans. And we know Paul doesn’t like obstacles in his way.
Ava will also not want Sonny to have Jason in his corner – Ava wants Sonny as stripped of power as possible so she can protect her custody of baby Avery and her own selfish interests. We may see Ava and Paul scheming soon on how to deal with Jason – and a bullet to the head seems to be the expeditious choice, but Jason is hard to kill, as we know.
And if Jason survives an attempt on his life and figures out that it was Paul and Ava behind it and that Paul is to blame for the attempt on Sonny’s life, there will be hell to pay. Could it be Jason that topples Paul’s scheme to take over the criminal element of Port Charles and reveals him for the snake he is? Maybe, but remember that Paul will have unique access to Jason once the reveal is made public.
Paul is crashing at the Quartermaine mansion and that’s where Jason may soon be as well. And that will give Paul a chance to not only scope out what’s going on with Jason and what he recalls, but to also find out what he needs to set up a hit on Jason. Even worse, Paul won’t give a damn that Jason is important to the Quartermaines, he’ll just see Jason as a deadly obstacle to what he wants.
The other question is, will Jason’s loved ones be at risk when Ava and Paul make a move on Jason? And will this further cement Jason’s conviction that he’s too dangerous to be with those he loves? Will Jason recover his memories and his family only to push them away in fear that his former life as a mob enforcer will put them at risk?
The reverberations of the ‘Jake is Jason’ reveal are just beginning and real danger from Jason’s mob past may further complicate his memory recovery and the relationship mess he needs to sort out.
