Kate Middleton Join Women's Institute: Outshines Camilla Parker-Bowles, Panders To Queen Elizabeth?

Kate Middleton is planning on joining the Anmer Women’s Institute, which seems harmless enough, but there is plenty of royal drama behind it. The Duchess of Cambridge has expressed interest in the Anmer branch on the Sandringham estate, which counts Camilla Parker-Bowles as a member. By joining, Kate will easily outshine the Duchess of Cornwall and simultaneously move toward the middle-class lifestyle she and the Middleton family enjoy.

The President of the Anmer Women’s Institute, commonly referred to as WI, confirmed to the Daily Mail that she had invited the Duchess of Cambridge to join the branch before Christmas. Now that Kate Middleton is enjoying some free time on her maternity leave, the President received an answer expressing the Duchess’ interest in joining.

It’s royal tradition to join the WI. Queen Elizabeth joined the Sandringham branch in 1943 and is the current president. Queen Elizabeth typically makes one appearance a year during the holidays. Camilla Parker-Bowles is also a member, but Kate Middleton enjoys a passionate following of supporters, and she would be the youngest member by nearly ten years. It would be a feather in the cap of the Women’s Institute to have the Duchess of Cambridge join their branch.

The group generally engages in activities like crafts, flower-arranging, and outings usually associated with a charitable cause. In addition, the members host garden parties at their homes. It’s pretty clear members will be eager to go to the Duchess of Cambridge’s home versus associating with Camilla Parker-Bowles and her stigma as “the other woman.” No doubt some tense moments and anger will follow this news.

In addition to irking Camilla Parker-Bowles, Kate Middleton’s involvement with the Women’s Institute is also a sign she is continuing her push for a more middle-class lifestyle. The Daily Mail added that Kate and Prince William have been seen out in Waitrose eating a pubs and trying to blend into a more normal lifestyle.

As we covered on CDL, Carole Middleton has made it very clear that she is bent on doing what is best for her and the Middleton family instead of pleasing Queen Elizabeth at all time. The Duchess is walking a tighter line with much more grace, but Queen Elizabeth has been fuming mad with the Middletons for imposing a commoner, middle-class lifestyle onto Prince George and now Princess Charlotte. The Queen wants to ensure Prince George and Princess Charlotte grow up knowing and understanding they are royal, and have to uphold a standard. With the Middleton family constantly pushing in, the royal children are being exposed to what Queen Elizabeth feels is too much of  middle-class views and habits.

What do you think royal followers? Is Kate Middleton trying to push Prince William into a middleclass lifestyle? Will the Kate Middleton be an active member of the Anmer Women’s Institute, or is it more of a press move like most everything else she does?
