Ian Somerhalder is engaged to Nikki Reed and a marriage is in the works. Reports claim that Nina Dobrev is both jealous that her former lover has moved on and really upset that Nikki will soon be pregnant with Ian’s baby. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are no longer dating, nor are they close enough to keep each other updated on the other person’s life. By the sheer nature of their jobs and their on-screen romantic interests, they are forced into close and intimate proximity with each other – but by no means does that mean that they are ‘friends’ or anything else. However, we are hearing that despite both Nina’s and Ian’s desire to move on and start a new life with their significant other [or in Nina’s case, significant others], Nina is still furious at Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed for getting engaged and planning to get married. Even worse to Nina Dobrev are reports that Nikki Reed wants to get pregnant and have Ian’s baby.
This isn’t because she’s jealous, mind you. Sure, I’m sure Nina does feel a twinge of ‘traditional’ jealousy in that regard – after all, she and Ian dated for a very, very long time, and I’m sure the topic of getting married and family came up at least once. But there Ian is, having proposed to a woman he’s known for significantly less time than he’s known Nina. It’s been a fairly common consensus that Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed have moved extremely quick on their engagement, even though both of them have failed relationships in the past. However, they are a lot more compatible – both in terms of age and what they want from each other – than Nina and Ian ever were, and Nina knows that.
Maybe that’s one of the reasons that she’s feeling so bitter about this, or perhaps Nina just doesn’t like the fact that Ian has moved on and she hasn’t. Either way, our sources have been saying for a little while that Nina just doesn’t like spending any time with Ian, especially not when he’s always with Nikki. But really, can you blame her?
