Sherri Shepherd Baby’s Mother and Legally Responsible: Loses Court Battle To Ex-Husband Lamar Sally and Surrogate Mother

Sherri Shepherd is officially a mom – The View star has been battling with her ex-husband Lamar Sally over a baby the couple hired a surrogate to give birth to in 2014 before the couple divorced. Sherri’s case wasn’t what you would think though, Sherri wasn’t trying to get custody of the surrogate baby, she was actually trying to get rid of the baby! According to new reports the verdict is in from a court in Pennsylvania, and Sherri Shepherd has been legally named the baby’s mother.

In 2014 Sherri and Lamar broke up and divorced just a few months before their very pregnant surrogate was set to give birth to the baby. Sherri informed the surrogate mother and her husband Lamar that she no longer wanted the baby since their marriage was over, and left Lamar and the surrogate to sort it out. Lamar began raising the baby on his own and struggling to make ends meet without his famous wife’s paychecks. Sherri’s ex had no choice but to sign up for public assistance, but since Sherri was not listed on the birth certificate – the surrogate mother was forced to pay child support for a baby that she was not even raising and technically wasn’t even her’s!

Lamar and their surrogate mother took Sherri to court, they wanted The View host to be legally and financially responsible for the baby – seeing as how she was the one who wanted the baby to begin with. Sherri fought the case tooth and nail, but according to new reports the celebrity lost the case and is now responsible for the infant that she wants nothing to do with and is legally listed as the baby’s mother on his birth certificate. So, it looks lie Sherri Shepherd is going to have to pay up. It will be interesting to see if she decides she wants the baby after all, now that she is footing the bill and paying for his expenses. Shepherd hasn’t spoken out on the matter – but we can imagine that she is not a happy camper right now.

Do you think that Sherri Shepherd should be legally responsible for the baby, even though the baby technically is not even related to her nor shares any of her DNA? Was she wrong to abandon ship and leave Lamar and the surrogate mother to care for the baby? Now that she is legally responsible for the baby will she have a change of heart and want to be in the infant’s life? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
