RECAP:

Tonight’s special “After The Final Rose” show kicks off live tonight with Chris Harrison, he announces that Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth are now officially engaged – and he brings the happy couple out on stage. Kaitlyn and Shawn share a kiss and then sit down with Chris Harrison, Kaitlyn raves about her engagement ring and flashes it for Chris Harrison.

Chris asks Shawn how great it felt when Kaitlyn finally told him he really was “the one” and told him that she loved him. Shawn laughs that he wouldn’t have changed anything, he says that all of the ups and downs on the show just made them stronger. He tells Chris that he has had his eyes on Kaitlyn since she was sent home by Chris Soules – and he even posted a picture of her online after The Bachelor and joked that he was “coming for Kaitlyn.”

Chris Harrison brings Nick out next, Nick jokes that it is like déjà vu sitting there on another “After The Final Rose” after being dumped. Nick admits that he felt kind of blind-sided and he really had no idea he was going home. He trusted Kaitlyn and their relationship, and he was confident in what they had. Chris Harrison wants Nick to clear the air and explain what exactly happened between them before he joined the show. Nick explains that he and Kaitlyn started talking like a month before she joined the show, first they were just texting – and then it escalated to phone calls and video chats.

Next Chris and Nick discuss the night that Kaitlyn and Nick shocked everyone and had sex in Dublin. Nick explains that it really didn’t seem like it happened that soon – because he and Kaitlyn had already gotten to know each other over the phone before he even joined the show. Chris laughs and asks Nick if that was why Shawn hated him so much? Nick explains that he doesn’t really understand what Shawn’s beef with him was, but he knows that once you get real feelings on the show everyone gets really emotional. Nick thinks that he and Shawn were both acting super immature and he thinks it was admirable that Kaitlyn didn’t get sucked in to their drama.

Chris Harrison brings out Shawn Booth so that he and Nick Viall can chat. Shawn and Nick shake hands and joke about how small the couch is that they have to sit on together. Shawn explains that he isn’t a “fake” person and he couldn’t pretend to be nice to Nick because he had a bad feeling about him because of some stuff that was said in the house. Chris points out that Shawn and Nick aren’t as different as they think they are, after all Kaitlyn did fall in love with both of them. Nick says that he was just frustrated because he was tired of everyone judging him based on things that happened with him last season on The Bachelorette. Chris Harrison asks Nick and Shawn to hug it out, Nick and Shawn aren’t trying to hug each other – but they both admit that were acting childish towards the end and they wish that things had happened differently.

Next Chris Harrison brings Kaitlyn out – and she awkwardly greets Nick Viall. Nick cuts right to the chase and asks Kaitlyn what she was feeling and why she told him she loved him, and then didn’t give him the final rose. Kaitlyn explains that she did love Nick, but her love for Nick didn’t compare for her love to Shawn. Chris asks Kaitlyn if talking to Nick prior to the show is one of the reasons that she fell for him. Kaitlyn confirms that she felt closer to Nick than the other guys, and she trusted him more because she had conversations with him before he arrived.

Nick isn’t upset that Kaitlyn chose Shawn over him, but he is upset that Kaitlyn let him nearly propose to her and profess his love to her. He feels like those words weren’t meant for her – since she didn’t love him back. Kaitlyn admits that she should have definitely dumped him a different way, and she feels guilty that she let him come to the rose ceremony and try to propose. Nick reminds Kaitlyn that she promised him from day one that if she ever had doubts she should just send him home right there. He thinks that Kaitlyn should have been more considerate of his feelings and their relationship.

Shawn and Kaitlyn rejoin Chris Harrison stage before the live show is over, they both rave about how excited they are to finally be able to go public with their relationship. Shawn says that since their engagement is out – he can’t wait to be able to stick up for her online against all of the cyber bullies. Chris Harrison wishes Kaitlyn and Shawn “nothing but the very best together.”
