#TheOriginals starts with Elijah calling for Hayley in the bayou. He has Hope in his arms and looks for her mother. He spots another bloody trap. Jackson is there and asks where Hayley is. His leg is wounded – he was the one caught in it. Hayley is being held by Davina and she’s furious. She tells her to let her out or she’ll kill her. Davina says she can try and says she brought her there to help her. She says the regent of witches can’t be seen doing favors for the Mikaelsons.

She says she can free her. Hayley asks what her terms are. Davina says a ninth ward witch tried to kill her and she can’t retaliate. Hayley says just tell her who to kill. Elijah helps dig the steel trap claws out of Jackson and then offers him some blood to heal. He declines. Elijah says he saw the bodies but didn’t see her. He asks how many bodies Elijah saw and says those that didn’t die fled the bayou. Jackson says a trap wouldn’t hurt Hayley and says something is wrong.

He says he’s taking Hope home and will continue the search. Jackson says he’s got five hours and will search for his wife with him. At a party in the Quarter, Marcel finds Freya partying and asks if she needed a break from family drama. She says they keep on arguing and he says it’s almost midnight and says they’re all about to feed and if she doesn’t want to be an appetizer, she needs to go. She picks one to take with her and goes. Cami reads about ritual crime scenes and takes notes.

She takes notes on what she saw and then does a news search about Lucien Castle. She sees one of his real estate seminars about challenging authority. There’s another crime scene and a reporter snaps a photo and says she has freedom of the press. The detectives sends her back behind the tape with no comment. Jackson shows up and asks Klaus what he did with Hayley. He says bodies of people he cared about are piling up in the woods thanks to Kingmaker, aka Lucien Castle.

Klaus says he was just out with Lucien and tells him where to find him in the penthouse on Canal Street. Klaus tells Elijah while he talks to him, he should ask him about the prophetic vision he saw for the originals. Klaus tells them he’ll stay with Hope and says Jackson and Hayley better not be pulling a stunt. Elijah tells Klaus one day his daughter will know what kind of man he is. Elijah says no one will take Hope, she’ll leave of her own accord.

Hayley cuts a swatch of her hair for Davina and she cloaks her then tells her where to find Kara. She says the curse won’t be active as long as the candle burns. She releases Hayley who tells her if she doesn’t get to see her daughter while she’s still on two legs, she’ll come for her. Davina says she’ll owe her an apology. Hayley leaves. Klaus leaves Freya an annoyed voice mail telling her to come home immediately. Cami shows up at Klaus’s house. She says it’s life and death and says Lucien is the Quarter killer.

He says Lucien wouldn’t be so sloppy and she shows him a photo and he admits it looks familiar. She says to make sure it doesn’t happen again then she says the NOPD can’t take down a thousand year psycho but he can and says to make him stop. Elijah goes to see Lucien and finds he can’t enter. It’s a boundary spell and says it’s tied to sire lines. Elijah says he wants to talk about the wolves he’s killing in the bayou. He says one of the alphas is missing and he asks if she’s the hybrid that Klaus knocked up.

He says he assumed she was fair game when they kicked her out. Elijah breaks a table and throws a leg into his neck then Jackson leaps onto him and bites. He tells him answers now. Lucien says he’ll have his men inspect the road kill in the morning. Elijah asks Jackson to go fetch the chains. Elijah says he’s happy to stand there and watch him die or he can invite him in. He says – choice is yours. Cami goes by another crime scene and heads to the bar. She ducks inside but the detective startles her.

She says it’s not a good time to sneak up on people. He asks her to pour him a drink. Freya brings the guy home to the compound and Klaus is there and startles him. He asks what his intentions are for his sister then scares the crap out of the guy and tells him to leave. Klaus says he’s drunk and no one will believe him. Freya asks what’s up and he says he needs her to do a locator spell to find Hayley. She asks if he’s worried and he says Hayley has a history of taking what’s his.

Freya says no, he’s really worried. She says she needs Hope to have the best connection. The detective asks Cami about the killer profile and she says he should consult someone with more experience. He says he’s seen her around town with Klaus Mikaelson the mysterious artist with no past then asks if he’s a client. He says he knows who she is. Cami says her brother murdered a church full of seminary students. He says he checked into her further and says her Uncle Kieran’s autopsy was not quite right.

She says he had a heart attack. The detective says her family has a century of scary stuff and her family is either causing trouble or cleaning it up. She asks if he’s accusing her of something. He says her good Catholic family thing is a cover but hasn’t figured out what she’s covering but says he will. He leaves. Cami checks her purse and sees something gone. Davina chants to consult the ancestors. Freya chants as well. She gasps and says she can’t find her.

Hayley lurks nearby Kara. Freya says it’s like she doesn’t exist. Jackson shows up and says no, she has to find her. Davina has blood coming from her eyes and begs the ancestors to listen. Hayley’s bones start to crack and so do Jackson’s. Davina tells the ancestors that Hayley can be used against Klaus. Davina gets a response and the transformation stops. Hayley is stunned. She goes after Kara, bites her then breaks her neck. Then her head starts to ring as other witches come at her. She screams in pain.

Lucien tells Elijah that his contacts will get back to him about the wolves. Elijah says he’ll need Klaus’ blood to heal and he may give it after Hayley is returned to him. Then Elijah asks why the concern about sire lines and if Tristan is up to his old tricks. Lucien says Tristan knows if he kills Klaus then all of his sire line will die. Elijah says they cannot be killed and the white oak is gone. Lucien says that’s not true and the prophecy has shown that darkness is coming.

Lucien asks if Elijah is done with this life and that’s why he doesn’t seem to care about dying. Elijah glares and walks out. Davina locks the candle into the crypt and magically seals it. Marcel shows up and says there’s a problem. He says there are 11 bodies burned in the street and says it wasn’t his vampires. A guy shows up asking for his mom and breaks down crying. Davina and Marcel wonder what this is. Klaus tends his fussy daughter then calls Lucien about the bodies found carved up.

Lucien says there are a lot of unfounded accusations from his family today. Klaus says there are rules in the city. Klaus tells him to come see him and get blood in exchange for no more wolf killings. Lucien says he’s fine and no need for that. Klaus threatens him if he disrupts the peace and says he will kill him gruesomely. Jackson is chained to the walls and he tells Freya to let him out. He says he needs to find Hayley and says is makes no sense that he’s human.

Freya touches him and says she can feel the curse but something is holding it back. Then Hayley is there and knocks out Freya and says – where the hell is that bastard? She’s bloody and looks rough. Lucien gets out a syringe and vial of a white fluid. He shoots it into his bite wound and breathes a sigh of relief. The wound bubbles then heals. Davina tells the witches that she will bring them under the protection of the ancestors if they pledge to her.

Jackson asks what happened and Klaus asks if she’s there to apologize. Klaus says her punishment fits her crime. He says his family saved their child. Jackson breaks loose and Freya quells him with magic. Hayley says he cursed all of them and says he took all of the wolves from their families. He says she chose that family over him and Hope. She asks if he’s going to tell Hope that she abandoned her. They fight and she says her parents left her and his turned his back on him and look at them now.

She says Hope deserves better and that’s all she wanted. She hits him and tells him to fight back. He doesn’t. Hope is there – she toddled out of her room and Hayley is horrified their daughter saw that. She says – she’s walking and asks when she started walking. Elijah is there and stares in shock at Hayley. She goes and picks up her daughter and says she missed it – she says, I missed everything. Freya, Jackson and Elijah all watch the tender moment. Klaus stays silent watching too.

Jackson asks Hayley if the curse is broken and she says she’ll explain later. Klaus says he’ll have her room made up. He says she can’t take the baby and Elijah says the apartments across the street are available. Klaus asks if they’re to stay across the street while savages raise his daughter. Hayley says to put the place in Jackson’s name and says Klaus won’t be invited in. Elijah reminds Klaus he created this problem and he’s just looking for a solution that works.

Davina finds Marcel who says she needs to take care of the bodies discreetly then asks if she did this. He says he never suggested a massacre and she says he can’t talk about dead witches and she learned about collateral damage from her. He says he learned it from Klaus and says she won’t get the better of Klaus by becoming him. Davina tells him he’s not to be in the cemetery. She goes into the crypt and cries bitter tears.

Hayley packs a bag and thinks about the witches coming at her and how she slaughtered them. Elijah comes to asks if she’s okay. She says Jackson has gone to tell the rest of the pack to go back to their families. He hands her the keys and she thanks him. She says last year she thought Hope could be raised by a real family and she was happy. She says she hates Klaus for taking that from her. Elijah hands her something and says he recovered them after she turned. He says he’s thought of her and fought for her return and says she’s not forgotten. He walks out upset.

The witches prepare their dead for burial at the cemetery. Davina shows up and one of the witches said one of them was his mom Kara who went after her. He says he’s going to find out how this happened and expose her. He says she’ll be shunned and kicked out of the city. He vows to erase her. Jackson and Hayley check out their new place. He has to invite Hayley in and he smiles then does it. She says it’s not as luxurious as the air stream trailer. He says they’ll make it a home.

She sets Hope down and smiles. She tells Jackson she missed him and hands him the wedding rings and says they were found in the junkyard. She doesn’t tell him Elijah saved them. They put on their rings and he kisses her. He says she saved them again. She says their freedom comes at a price from Davina. He says everything does in this town but they can worry about that later. He kisses her. Hope coos in her crib and she smiles at her.

Klaus stares out a window watching their little family with a glare. He crushes a glass in his hand. Cami finds the detective outside her apartment and asks what else he stole. He hands over her laptop and says he saw the Lucien video and asks if that’s who she profiled. She threatens to report him. He says she’s not a suspect and he’s looking out for her. He says she thinks she’s mixed up in something she doesn’t understand. She says she does understand.

They hear a news story saying they’re searching for a serial killer with two bodies drained of blood. Lucien compelled the reporter to write it up. He tells her she’s welcome for the tip. Lucien looks at a sketch of a woman – is it Aurora? Freya tells Elijah she was misguided to think Hayley’s presence would help the tension in the house. He says she’s optimistic and new. He tells her he got some disturbing news from Lucien Castle but doesn’t trust the source.

Freya says she can read it from the blood Klaus fed on from the prophetic witch. She works a spell on blood she took from Klaus. She chants to try and recover the prophecy. Elijah tells Freya to stop but she finally sees it. She tells them it’s true and says there’s a terrible shadow over Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah. She says if the prophecy is fulfilled, they will all fall. One by friend, one by foe, and one by family. They look disturbed. In the monastery, Aurora and Tristan do battle with swords.

She tells him he’s distracted but he says he’s thinking only of her. He asks about the incident. She says she got a letter saying he was unavailable for their visit. She says it’s time and asks him to let her out. He says he can’t while she’s in this state. He says he’ll miss her and she asks if he’s leaving then she says no and asks why. He puts a shot in her neck and she begs him not to go then begs him to take her with him. The monks come take her away. He says to increase her dosage while he’s gone.

He says to tell her that he’ll be back soon and will bring her a lovely souvenir from New Orleans. He says she may be a danger to herself or others. They cart his sister off while Tristan looks thoughtful.

THE END!
