Tonight are the #VoiceKnockouts with the coaches being forced to cut their teams in half as the artists face off head to head once again this time with their own song choice. Each coach gets one final steal. Nate Ruess from F.U.N. is advising all the teams. Christina is first up with Ashley Morgan versus Sonic. They are happy to see Sonic. Sonic chose a Woman’s Worth by Alicia Keys. Nate says to lose herself more and Christina says to be careful with her ad libbing. Ashley has chosen Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar. Christina tells her to embrace her own style. Nate says it’s aggressive.

Ashley is out first with Heartbreaker. The audience seems to eat it up. Sonic comes out next and does her Alicia Keys number. Pharrell tells Ashley she ran through Heartbreaker like a race track and says it was clean. He also compliments Sonic. Adam says Sonic made a great song choice and it was very different from Ashley’s which was also good. Blake says Ashley hit her notes well but says Sonic seems more in Christina’s wheelhouse like her style. Christina asks what style he means and he says the style of awesome. She likes that.

Christina says Ashley needs to let it loose more and go wild then says she loves that Sonic takes chances but it doesn’t always work. Christina says they were both good but she has to go with her gut and chooses Sonic. She says she’s fearless and she loves that she takes risks. Next up is Team Blake with Brian Johnson versus Sarah Potenza. He says he paired them together because it wouldn’t be fair to put them up against other artists. Brian has chosen James Morrison’s Nothing Ever Hurt Like You.

Nate says to work on pitch a little and Blake says it’s fun and refreshing. He tells him it’s a solid choice. Sarah is doing Wated Love by Matt McAndrew. She says she’s doing it for her husband because they wasted six years with a break up and are now back together. Blake says she can totally make this her own. Nate says to be sure to show conviction. They each perform their numbers to huge audience reaction. Christina says they both did a great job. She says she liked Sarah’s verses.

Pharrell says Brian surprised him and loved that one ad lib. Then he says Sarah belts incredibly. Adam says Sarah did the song justice then tells Brian – damn. They all three say it’s very even and Blake has a tough choice. Blake says they both used artistry and moved them with their music. Blake thinks hard and chooses as the knockout winner – Sarah. He says there is no one else like her in this competition or in this world. That puts Brian up for a steal and Adam slaps his button. Brian is thrilled and in tears.

Next up is an Adam knockout. He’s got Nathan Hermida versus Clinton Washington. Nathan chose Sam Smith’s Leave Your Lover. Nate says not to make everyone so sad. Clinton chose Hunter Hayes’ Wanted and decided to do a country song to show his range. They both get notes from Adam and Nate and then it’s time for the knockout. Everyone seems to dig Clinton’s version of Wanted, especially the ladies. Nathan is up second and his seems flawless as well. His falsetto is amazing.

Blake says Adam’s team doesn’t suck and says they’re really good. He says Clinton had a strong voice and attacked the song. He says Nathan sang a duet with himself with that falsetto switch. He says Adam can’t go wrong. Christina says Adam was a great coach for Clinton and says she would have gone with him since Nathan had some pitch issues. Pharrell says Clinton was so accurate and Nathan has a lot of potential. Now it’s down to Adam.

Adam says he loved Clinton’s versatility and says Nathan opened up to the audience finally. He chooses Nathan as his knockout winner. That means Clinton is up for a steal but no one picks him up. Christina says she can’t believe she missed out on stealing him and says the moment passed so quickly. She says she hopes he moves on and benefits from hers and Adam’s coaching.

Next up is a Team Pharrell knockout. He’s got Sawyer Fredericks facing off against Mia Z. He then also brings out Paul Pfau and shocks them. He says Anthony Riley isn’t coming back to The Voice for personal reasons and says they are facing off in a group of three and two will move forward. Pharrell says to pick a song to show who they are. Mia Z chooses Hold On, I’m Coming by BB King. Pharrell tells her to be a little more conversational and Nate says to lose herself and be less rigid.

Paul Pfau has chosen I Don’t Need no Doctor recently covered by John Mayer. Pharrell tells him to think less, feel more. Nate says Paul is using the guitar as a crutch and says he wants more grit and energy but not contrived. Sawyer has chosen Collide by Howie Day and decided not to use his guitar. Pharrell says Sawyer can challenge the blues and says he’s special. Nate tells him to pull back a little on the high notes and says he did a lot of that when he was that age.

Mia Z is up first and her song is amazing. Her voice hits these amazing high notes. Paul is next and does his funky number. He’s spot on. Sawyer is up next and his is lovely as well. Adam says the three of them would make a bad ass band and says Mia sings higher than normal humans and calls it dolphin like. Adam compliments Paul’s guitar playing and then says Sawyer’s voice fills the room beyond compare.

Blake says he’s sad about death, taxes and he will not get to use his steal on Mia because he guarantees she’s not going anywhere. He says he’s ever heard someone effortlessly navigate a melody like her. Christina says kudos to Mia. She says Paul was great on guitar but left the vocals a little. She calls Sawyer a genetic genius. Now Pharrell has to choose his first winner. He says this is tough. He takes Sawyer as his first winner. Now it’s down to Paul and Mia.

Pharrell says he believes in them both but takes Mia. He says it was all crazy and chose Mia because she’s clear on what she wants to do and Sawyer because he’s a natural. Paul is up for steal but doesn’t get picked up. Next up is another Team Blake knockout with Meghan Linsey versus Travis Ewing. Blake says he met his match in dry smart alec humor in Nate. Meghan is out first and she’s chosen Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin. Blake says it’s perfect to show off her soul side.

Nate says it was awesome and says she has to be careful not to go karaoke or emulate Aretha. Blake says to have something big up her sleeve for the ending. Nate says never to wing it. Travis has chosen I Don’t Want to Be by Gavin McGraw. Nate tells him to make sure he’s hitting the notes and doesn’t get sloppy. Blake says he needs to pick his moments to get a breath. Blake says this is a tough song but it will be amazing if he can pull it off.

Meghan performs first. Pharrell and Adam are floored. Christina is digging it too. Pharrell is on his feet. She ends all bluesey and tight. The audience is on their feet cheering. Then it’s Travis’ turn. Everyone is digging on him too. He does a great job but Meghan is just a powerhouse that killed it. I can’t imagine he’ll come out of this alive. But he sings his face off and doesn’t cave in. He ends on a huge note too.

Christina says it was nice and says Meghan gets better and better. Pharrell says Travis was really going for it and held that note for 100 bars and it was awesome. Pharrell says she sang it that proved she’s worthy to sing that kind of music. Adam says Travis went for it but Meghan is the problem. Travis says he agrees. Adam says Meghan pulled off a tough song. It’s down to Blake. He says Travis came out and delivered knowing what he was up against. Blake says when Meghan opened for him she was country but had this inside. He says the winner is Meghan.

Next up is a Team Christina knockout with Kimberly Nichole versus Koryn Hawthorne. She says they have very similar voices so she needs just one representing her team. Koryn comes out and says she’s doing Try by Pink. Nate jokes that she didn’t pick the Pink song he wrote. Koryn says it fits where she is right now. She sings it out and Christina says she has so much natural passion. Nate says he was blown away. He says he wants to steal her for his team. He says she’s so non-mnaufactured.

Christina tells her to watch her breath and be confident. Kimberly has chosen Sting’s If You Love Somebody. She belts it out and says she likes it because it has blues and rock and she can move. Christina says she was hesitant and it shocked her. She tells her to flip into the chest voice and says it’s impressive. Nate says never to deny her full voice and says to try it again. Kimberly performs first. It’s a great song and she really did it justice.

Koryn comes out and does it like she did in rehearsal. Her voice is so rich – it feels thick. Even Kimberly is singing along then gives her a big hug when she’s done. Pharrell says Kimberly sings with a razor blade and it’s sharp and on point then he says Koryn pulls energy from the earth and calls her amazing. He says it’s the toughest knockout. Adam says it was like a fast forward to the finales. He says it was Koryn’s best so far and Kimberly was amazing too.

Blake says he’s glad to see Christina suffer. He says Kimberly had fun and he wanted to get up with her then says Koryn was intense and conveyed a serious message. He laughs at Christina and says he doesn’t know. Christina says it was the best of the knockouts so far. She says Kimberly is a fire cracker and a natural ability to own the stage. She says she feels a deep connection to Koryn too. She says it’s tough then chooses Kimberly.

The girls hug and Christina says she had to go with Kimberly because you never know what to expect from her. Koryn is up for steal and the crowd screams and Christina tries to get the others to steal. Pharrell does it – he slaps his button and goes to hug Koryn. Christina is overjoyed and dances around them. She says it’s a win-win. Blake says Pharrell was smart to steal and he almost pushed his button too. Koryn is over the moon.
