Amal Alamuddin, George Clooney Slammed For Being Hypocrites, Ignoring Syrian Refugee Crisis In Lake Como?

Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney like to see themselves as a celebrity couple who are also humanitarians who want to change the world for the better. Yet, it looks like the couple’s actions aren’t as loud as their words, as Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney are slammed for being hypocrites.

According to the Daily Mail, Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney attended a lavish fundraiser in Italy near his Lake Como villa to help raise money for Darfur. The outspoken Hollywood actor helped raise funds for the war-torn African nation, which has been a cause for his for several years now.

What’s more, Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney also went on the record to back European leaders and their open-door policy towards refugees fleeing conflict in war-town areas of the world like Syria. Yet, a massive makeshift refugee camp has been set up in Lake Como near George Clooney’s home and so far he and his wife Amal Alamuddin have done and said very little about it. The refugees come from Arab, African and Asian nations and was triggered after the Swiss government decided to close its southern border with Italy.

Yet, the refugee crisis apparently wasn’t on George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s night as they laughed with guests and enjoyed each other’s company on a luxury yacht. Amal Alamuddin sipped on champagne while George Clooney charmed guests with his wit and charisma in full view of the paparazzi.

Clearly, everything Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney do is staged for optimum media attention. The irony, of course, is that while Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney wine and dine with their guests to raise money for those in need, they have at the same time distanced themselves from their refugee cause, despite filming a video earlier this year, with Amal Alamuddin retelling her own family’s refugee tale.

It seems as though image-conscious George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin and her designer wardrobe are more concerned about the paparazzi getting the right photos at their fundraising party than the actual plight for Darfur.

Ironically, even though George Clooney has spent every summer of the last decade at his Lake Como villa, he was considering selling the luxurious home last year because of the ‘intrusive paparazzi.’ George Clooney hasn’t left town yet, but he hasn’t done much in terms of his celebrity leverage to help Lake Como’s refugee crisis, either.
