Angelina Jolie is putting Hollywood behind her to pursue a new career in teaching, despite having no formal background in education herself. In fact, there is a new report that says the celebrity mother-of-six, who just pulled the plug on her marriage to Brad Pitt, is set to take on a teaching job at the London School of Economics next semester despite her ongoing divorce drama.
According to People Magazine, the Hollywood actress is set to join the faculty staff as a visiting professor for a new masters program that will focus on women, peace, and security. Even though Angelina graduated from high school at the age of 16 after being transferred from one Hollywood school to another, the actress never attended college or any type of courses later on in adulthood.
In fact, Angelina has used her Hollywood connections to become the celebrity humanitarian she is today, becoming a member of the UNHCR special envoy when she ditched her rebellious image to become an international human rights advocate instead.
Of course, Angelina Jolie’s best role to date is her transformation from a sexy big screen siren to a celebrity humanitarian who wants to change the world. Angelina is an actress after all, and if there’s one thing she’s managed to do right, it’s convince the world that she is a woman of power while climbing the ranks with some of the world’s most powerful leaders by her side.
If it weren’t for her Hollywood status, then Angelina Jolie would be another struggling actress taking on less than desirable roles in the industry instead of rubbing elbows with foreign secretaries and the UN security council. No one can argue that Angelina Jolie doesn’t have the experience, the background or the education to work for the United Nations or be a community college professor for that matter, too.
But then again, it shouldn’t come to anyone’s surprise that Angelina Jolie does what she wants, with no one or nothing stopping her along the way. Angelina might not longer want to be associated with Hollywood or the movie business, but she’s using her name recognition and celebrity status for a position that would otherwise be given to someone much more qualified than her.
In fact, it’s doubtful that Angelina wants to actually help influence young students in shaping the world but instead, use the opportunity to gain yet another notch in her belt while others around her stroke her ever growing ego even more. Angelina Jolie might have zero experience or qualifications to teach a graduate class but apparently, that doesn’t matter to higher learning institutions like the London School of Economics, who will gladly put her on the staff to help generate interest in the school and ultimately, bring in students along with press coverage.
In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if Angelina Jolie tried teaching at Oxford just to prove that she can use her star power to do anything and anywhere, regardless of whether or not she’s the most qualified person to do it. Do you agree, CDL readers?
